'Shabake' Unveils Additional Cast, Staff, Opening Theme, First Promo

The official website of the Shabake television anime announced additional cast, staff, opening theme, new visual (pictured), and first promotional video on Sunday. The anime series adapting Megumi Hatakenaka's historical mystery novel is scheduled to premiere in October 2025 on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block, with an early screening of episodes 1 to 4 to be held in Tokyo on August 23.

Singer-songwriter Kujira (Senpai wa Otokonoko) is performing the opening theme "Inochi no Parade," previewed in the promotional video below.

Takahiro Ookawa (Monogatari assistant director) is helming the anime at Bandai Namco Pictures. Touko Machida (Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou wa, Moto Tekikoku de Jiyuu Kimama na Hanayome Seikatsu wo Mankitsu suru) is handling the series composition. Akari Minagawa (Sasaki to Miyano chief animation director) is the character designer. Rei Ishizuka (Kakkou no Iinazuke) is composing the music.

Megumi began writing the historical mystery novel under Shinchosha's Shincho Bunko imprint in December 2001, with illustrations by Yuu Shibata. The 23rd volume will be released on July 18.

Comic Bunch began serializing a manga adaptation by Mimori from January 2017 to March 2023. Shinchosha shipped the fourth and final volume in June 2023.
