Webtoon 'Teenage Mercenary' Gets Anime Adaptation

A television anime adaptation of YC's Teenage Mercenary webtoon was announced by LINE Digital Frontier Corporation on Thursday.

YC began serializing the school action webtoon on Naver Webtoon (now Webtoon) in November 2020, featuring illustrations by Rakhyun.

Webtoon Entertainment has published the webtoon digitally in English, Spanish, French, German, Thai, Chinese, and Indonesian. The title has reached a total of 1.86 billion views globally.

Synopsis
When he was eight years old, Yu Ijin was the sole survivor of a fiery plane crash in a foreign land. To survive, he became a notorious mercenary—honing his arm-to-arm capabilities, marksmanship, and combat prowess into those of a skilled predator. However, 10 years later, after encountering soldiers deployed from South Korea, he rediscovers his remaining family: an adorable little sister named Dayun and a warm-hearted grandfather.

Upon returning to his home country, a brand new trial is presented to Ijin—to assume the mundane life of a typical high school student. From scheming bullies to newfound friendships, every experience is new for Ijin. @Rom-Com_lover same here. It just repeats itself in an infinite loop: a new adversary appears that threatens Yu Ijin's family, Yu Ijin saves his family, there are some cute scenes, and then it repeats. There's not much to explore in storywise, it's just dumb action most of the time. Nevertheless, it's always nice when a manga I'm reading or have read gets an anime adaptation. I'll definitely watch it.

There has been a rumor of it getting an adaptation for a long time now. Finally, it became a reality. However, I stopped reading the manhwa for a while now. It ain't clicking on me anymore. I'm eager for the anime nevertheless.
