'Golden Kamuy' Spin-off Novel Bundles OVA
The first spin-off novel to Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga, Tsurumi Tokushirou no Shukugan, will bundle Blu-ray disc containing an original video anime on October 17.The original anime episode will adapt the Inazuma Gotou to Mamushi no Ogin (The Lightning Bandit and Ogin the Viper) chapter. The Blu-ray will also contain a mini episode adapting the Shimaenaga (Long-Tailed Tit) chapter. The episode will have a total runtime of approximately 30 minutes.
Shizutaka Sugahara (Golden Kamuy 4th Season, D-Frag!) is credited as the chief director for the new episode at animation studio Brains Base.
Noda serialized the historical adventure manga in Young Jump magazine from August 2014 to April 2022. Shueisha published the 31st and final volume in July 2022. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and released the 31st and final volume in January 2024. Golden Kamuy has a cumulative 29 million copies of its volumes in circulation.
Geno Studio produced the first three seasons in Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Fall 2020—each running for 12 episodes. The fourth season by Brains Base aired in 13 episodes in Fall 2022. Crunchyroll and Funimation simulcast the first three seasons with subtitles and an English dub, with the former streaming the fourth season with multiple subtitles and dubs.
An anime adaptation of the manga's final arc is currently in production.
