News of a second season for the anime series Hayate the Combat Butler has been leaked from an issue of Shounen Sunday that has yet to be released. No other information is yet to be known.

The final episode of the first season airs in Japan this coming Sunday.

So they are using the same staff from the OVA... and the director of the original Zero no Tsukaima (the only good one of the three seasons). I wonder how they will tackle the comedy. I wonder if they will take it as pure comedy/parody, or if they will try to put a little more seriousness and show more of the relationships that the manga fleshed out. I'm actually kind of hoping they flesh out the drama from the manga, but fans of the first season of the anime might find it a big change. Season 1 didn't take itself seriously at all after all.

News Update: The second season to start in the Spring of 2009
Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine announced that the second season of Hayate will be aired from the spring of 2009 (probably April). The "Episode 0" OVA will be released on March 6th. A PSP game will also be released in the spring of 2009.

So fast... I still haven't watched the first season, which is like 50+ episodes.

Now that a second season is coming out, I guess I will temporarily skip the first season and go ahead to watch the second.
