@Antanaru I think it's just a sign of the times we live in. With studios making so much anime that many creators can even afford to make mid anime just for the sake of publicity. Remember the 80s and 90s, when even the most mediocre toys had their own animated series on American TV. However, some of them still became so famous that toys from the original IP became merch for popular shows.

@RobertBobert I know they are just LN/manga ads, after all Kadokawa used to be primarily a publishing company. I just developed a knee jerk reaction to seeing Kadokawa announcing anime production.

@EcchiGodMamster @Antanaru These shows aren't made for financial success. They're the epitome of "anime is an advertisement for the original LN/manga" and are made with a low enough budget that you don't have to worry about losing money, but at least have something to show for it. Look at it as a mediocre mobile game based on a popular anime.

@Antanaru

I have a very hard time believing these low art/animation quality "life in another world" or adjacent anime are actually profitable

I know Kadokawa is an enormous corporation with fingers in almost everything these days and it was involved in decent titles too, but every time I see a sentence starting with "production company Kadokawa" my first thought is "what kind of slop are they making now"... Just another production committee approved checklist of tired tropes to put into life with cheap looking animation.

So, Ojisan + Loli is a new old sub-trend in ojisan titles? Reminds me of how villainous isekai broke into otome isekai anime.

I'm really enjoying this idea of older protagonists in anime. Also the girl looks really moe and cute 😊
