The official website for the television anime adaptation of Eco Mikawa's Boukyaku Battery (Oblivion Battery) manga announced a second season on Sunday.

The first season, produced by MAPPA, aired in 12 episodes in Spring 2024. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with English subtitles. The studio also produced an original net anime episode for the 2020 Jump Festa event.

Mikawa began serializing the sports manga on the Shounen Jump+ website in April 2018. Shueisha published the 19th volume on September 4, with the 20th volume scheduled to be released on December 4.

Synopsis
Haruka Kiyomine and Kei Kaname were once recognized as the most formidable pitcher-catcher duo in middle school baseball. Known as the "General," Kaname paired his expert strategies with Kiyomine's explosive pitches, crushing the dreams of many starry-eyed players who hoped to one day make it to the big leagues.

High school freshman Tarou Yamada is one such former player. Having given up on competing, he enrolls in Kotesashi High School—a completely average public school with no baseball team to speak of—where he discovers that his new classmates are the legendary pair who once destroyed his dreams. Adding to this shocking revelation, he learns that amnesia has reduced the once level-headed General to a vulgar class clown. Having lost all interest in baseball, Kaname dragged a disappointed Kiyomine to Kotesashi simply because the school was close to where they live.

As Kotesashi forms a fledgling baseball club, Yamada meets other players he once admired who also left baseball behind. While they might be unwilling now, Yamada believes that if he can convince such talented athletes to start playing again, it might be possible to achieve their dreams and win the national championship—as long as they can put up with Kaname's incessant joking. @MegamiRem
"They even forgot to pay/credit an animator just recently for an example" I already know and then they paid. Don't treat in-house employees and freelancers the same. Those complaining are freelancers and they will never work at Mappa again if they want. Therefore, it is wrong to say that Mappa works its employees to death
"And how does it change the fact that mappa currently has the shittest employee management and overworks them" Shaft has the worst management, Mappa already has a brighter future with new board members. And if you criticize Mappa for overwork, you should also criticize and complain about Science Saru, CloverWorks, Pierrot, A-1 Pictures, Wit Studio and especially Shaft. Do you think he's only thinking of the Staff by criticizing Mappa? You might just be a stupid Mappa hater. My advice is to try to be objective

@RippleLover Not only Mappa almost every anime studio stuffers from over working. Sadly over working in office is a common think in Japan so stop treating mappa as the only company in Japan who is into overworking.

I guess this did pretty well. I'm surprised the manga still isn't licensed.

@ZXEAN If that's what needed to save the employees from this draconian company, yes.

@feyyazu35 And how does it change the fact that mappa currently has the shittest employee management and overworks them? They even forgot to pay/credit an animator just recently for an example.

Also the guy never said anything about mappa employees not working hard, infact the opposite. Crunching them to death means they work hard, hella hard.

JC Staff on the other hand is nothing like that.

@RippleLover You want mappa to stop making anime ?

Nov 10, 6:53 PM by ZXEAN

@feyyazu35, indeed, it is a very good studio! I wish them prosperity!

@RippleLover Dude, Mappa employees work hard, how blind do you have to be? I would like to remind you that Mappa released only 3 anime this year, while JC Staff is broadcasting 8 anime only this autumn season. Don't be so stupid and blind

MAPPA gotta crunch their workers till death huh

Nov 10, 1:27 PM by RippleLover

@undo I added it to the plans, but initially thought it was one of those "sports only" sports shows.

@RobertBobert As someone who watched it with no knowledge of baseball, it was one of the best shows of the year for me.
It gets better and better as it goes, so I would definitely give it a few episodes before deciding (I mean its only 12eps).

I can't wait too ^^ loved the first season a lot

Nov 10, 11:25 AM by removed-user

Is it worth watching the first season for someone who knows absolutely nothing about baseball and is very selective when it comes to all-male/all-female shows?

Nov 10, 11:01 AM by RobertBobert

YESSSSSIRRRR. Such a good show that completely went under the radar or under the earth's crust, I can't wait

Nov 10, 10:55 AM by 3inPunisher

@Gorenko, yes, me too! I haven't' watched first season yet as I thought it was only the one season and plan to read the manga.
