Light Novel 'Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto' Gets TV Anime

The Aniplex x Kadokawa Anime Festival livestream event announced a television anime adaptation of Matsuri Isora's Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto (Secrets of the Silent Witch) light novel on Friday. The official website also revealed the lead cast and a teaser visual (pictured).

Voice actress Saya Aizawa (Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu) is starring as Monica Everett.

Isora began penning the adventure fantasy light novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in February 2020. Fujimi Shobo published the first volume under its Kadokawa Books imprint in June 2021, featuring illustrations by Nanna Fujimi. The seventh volume went on sale on February 9.

Tobi Tana began serializing a manga adaptation in B's-LOG Comic magazine in July 2021. The third volume went on sale on August 1.

Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga in English and released the fourth volume in July 2023. The second manga volume went on sale in December 2023.

Silent Witch placed second in the tankobon category in the 2022 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings and fourth in the 2023 edition.

Synopsis
Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the only mage in the world who can use unchanted magecraft, a true hero who singlehandedly defeated a legendary black dragon. However, this young genius is actually...super-duper shy! That's right: She learned to cast spells silently just to avoid speaking in public, and despite her power, she has zero self-confidence. Now Monica has been tasked with secretly guarding the second prince. Can she keep it together as she faces both the evil forces targeting the prince and the terrors of social interaction? @Boazanian I'm just used to the fact that these days such LNs have a female protagonist, either for the sake of yuri/yuri bait, or for the sake of an absolutely pure story with no romance at all.

yeah, i would say it falls somewhere in the otome genre. Not isekai tho but it does share common tropes from it (OP character who no one personally knows, loner, etc etc). idk if silent witch was really developing a romance with the MC but this is just coming from a vol.1 perspective
