VIZ Media licensed the manga in English and released 21 volumes from May 1993 to March 2003. In May 2003, the company began publishing a second edition and released the 36th and final volume in November 2006. VIZ Media also released a 2-in-1 omnibus edition between March 2014 and March 2017.

Studio Deen adapted the manga into a television anime that aired in 161 episodes from April 1989 to September 1992. The manga also received multiple movies and original video anime over the years, with the latest installment, Ranma ½: Akumu! Shunmin Kou, released in 2008.

So absolutely ugly it pains my heart

Well, I actually wanted to see David Production on this again since I loved what they did with the colours for Yatsura remake, but it was obvious for it to be released this soon after the other finished, that this was something planned ahead, many months in production while yatsura S2 was finishing, and only now announced to keep the hype for the mangaka adaptation remakes.

Like others said, they dont have the balls to adapt every chapter, and it would be better to just do a best of and then run for the ending, but lol, all these remakes sometimes feel more like advertising for the old material, both adaptation and source, than anything else.

@Lol1268 In the comparison above, the new Ranma's chest is significantly larger.

@DatRandomDude Japanese TV has become much more conservative over time, huh? Or are they just hoping to get a wider audience due to the age of the show now?

Looking really good, excited!

@Fortress_Maximus Its not made for Netflix. Netflix will stream it (and so far it's only confirmed for Japan) but it's airing on TV too. (which is more likely why its PG)

@ghost1991 Ranmas chest is significantly flatter in this anime and ranma is considered busty in the og anime

Being PG even though it's made for Netflix is a disappointment but, I am glad to know that most of the OG cast are back. Yamaguchi, Hayashibara and Hidaka still got it.

@ghost1991 Of course

So, will the new Ranma get the Kenshin treatment instead of the Yatsura treatment? Even interesting. Although I’m a little confused by the somewhat soapy visuals and the seemingly too brightened picture... But at least thanks for the quick premiere and the old cast.

@deg i already know the manga ending

Jul 17, 10:15 AM by ghost1991

@ghost1991 sure but for me im too lazy to read the ending of the manga so im hoping this anime remake will animate the manga ending

@deg if it is censored i will not watch it
the original was pretty good
i prefer re watch the original than watch the new censored remake

it is not about nudity
but ranme is deferent because of the story
i don't know how to explain it
most of ranma seen are nudity and in the bath and ranma change to girl
if they censored everything and change everything it is not ranma anymore

Jul 17, 10:01 AM by ghost1991

@EcchiGodMamster plenty of sexy girls including ranma himself when in sex change mode

@ghost1991 from the trailer its already censored still im gonna watch this for the action sakuga

Really? It'll start airing in Fall 2024? Even though this remake was just announced the other day? And it's interesting that it's by MAPPA. I was expecting it to be David Production, since they did the Urusei Yatsura remake. So yeah, 3 more months until this starts airing. Just wondering when the One Piece remake will start airing. And the Magic Knight Rayearth remake.

Also, I doubt that Ranma 1/2 (2024) will be a complete adaptation. Will probably adapt chapters of the manga that are fan-favourites, and then adapt the final chapters of the manga in the final episodes. It is mostly an episodic series after all, with some arcs here and there, but no overarching story or progress made afterwards, since everything just resets in the next episode.

Thought it'll take at least a year after we had that announcement, but of course it's Mappa and their.. animators, who finally after months got permission to step out of their rooms and go outside.

This is the most important question

Also I want to know the ratio of girls to guys cause I've never seen any of Ranma

looking good so far i just hate the mid color designs its not vibrant colors at all and lacks enough shading but funny the color designer did cyberpunk edgerunners though which has good colors

to those worried about mappa animators well there is no animators complaining yet and not all anime of mappa has production problems like god of high school and jujutsu kaisen season 1 both have good production times
