CloverWorks Produces 'Grotesque' Original Anime for 2025

The CloverWorks Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2024 announced an original anime tentatively titled Grotesque on Thursday. The original anime directed by Atsushi Nishigori (Darling in the FranXX, The iDOLM@STER) is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

@Vene My understanding of this is that canon yuri is often seen as a localization of the show to a specific audience, so many authors simply make the characters idealized super friends to please both audiences. Some authors even spoke directly about this. As they said in one "Fujoshi" show, "Why make characters a gay couple when it's much more interesting to fantasize about them as one?"

@RobertBobert Shippers will be shipping always, I never understood the appeal of it, wouldn't it better to enjoy a show where the pairing is actually cannon?.

Though in their defense, Japan kinda makes it really ambiguous sometimes, like they have no idea how to write a normal female friendship.

Though all shippers are delusional people in the end.

@Vene I don’t know, nowadays even the simple fact of two female protagonists means that a lot of people will immediately call it yuri. But I am once again convinced that speculating is a lost cause.

People interested in the show are probably those who fetishes the genre, or pervs.

@Softhenic03 I'm not against titles being inspired by hugely successful anime, but in LicoRero's case it got too lazy.

He have experience in Yuri and are good at it IMO. Like Vividred Operation. That anime is so gay and fabulous,,,YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
