Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These - Kaikou, the first 12 episodes of the anime series, aired in Spring 2018. The second season, Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These - Seiran, premiered as a film trilogy in 2019—each part comprised of four episodes.

@_cjessop19_ Just finished the 4th season of the remake, it's indeed well made so far.

@MegamiRem And I went ahead and did that, was a great watch.

Nov 25, 2023 6:19 AM by MegamiRem

@MegamiRem Definitely, and the CG and artwork has improved considerably as well.

@_cjessop19_ Yea my friend also told me the same that it's good and faithful to the og.

@MegamiRem You should, it's been great so far.

Nov 15, 2023 3:55 AM by _cjessop19_

I guess I should continue this remake at some point.

@yamiyugi101 No, this is normal as LOTGH is a character driven story. It's what makes it so good.

Nov 8, 2023 9:54 AM by Darion_Phoenix

Is it weird that I enjoyed the character writing more than the plot in LOTGH in general

About time!

While Die Neue These might not be as good as the OVA at this point in time, it's still leagues ahead of the dumpster fires that post 2016 Star Wars and Star Trek has devolved into.

There will always be reasons to prefer the original series, I am one of the people who prefer it. But these remakes do not ruin it, and I'm glad that once they are done they will bring many more people to the story thanks to its more modern and higher-value production.

@RobertBobert

imo politics an military are equally important in LOGH, we dont get that many battles but when they do happen they take 2 or even 3 episodes

@Playcool
so far the remake has covered up till episode 44 of the 110 episode OVA. i think watching either should be fine, even jumping from the end of season 4 to episode 45 of the OG OVA is probably ok as well as long as you can recognize the characters which are quite different, in the OG most people look normal while in the remake most characters look like models

Nov 5, 2023 2:53 PM by silversaint

@Ionliosite2 Closer to old space sci-fi like Dune, where the politics of the future are as important as the military aspect?

Nov 5, 2023 1:27 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert Latter, Legend of the Galactic heroes is a very complex novel with lots of politics, but not really much focus on action setpieces (there are, but not anywhere near the amount you'd have in, say, Gundam).

Nov 5, 2023 1:24 PM by Ionliosite2

@silversaint So as long as they keep the good work, by the end of this adaptation, watching this should replace the need of watching the original?

Nov 5, 2023 12:45 PM by Playcool

@Playcool

OG fan here, im loving this remake, there are some things that the OG does better (like some episodes focused on lore that were skipped in the remake) but overall this new adaptation is really really good

Nov 5, 2023 12:36 PM by silversaint

I'm confused, is this mecha space opera or something like space game of thrones?

Nov 5, 2023 11:39 AM by RobertBobert

@TheAnimeWorld definitely one of those long-ass OLD anime I wanted to eventually watch, but haven't yet.
Is this remake doing it good, with later entries, for fans of the OG series?
As in, if they keep going at this pace and adapt everything, will the OG still be better for a first watch?
