'Kuroshitsuji' Anime Series Gets New Season in 2024

The Crunchyroll Industry panel at Anime Expo 2023 announced on Monday that a new season of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) is in production. The panel also revealed returning main staff, cast, teaser visual, and teaser promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Daisuke Ono (Shingeki no Kyojin) and Maaya Sakamoto (Bakemonogatari) are returning as Sebastian Michaelis and Ciel Phantomhive, respectively.

The anime series adapt Yana Toboso's fantasy mystery manga which began serialization in GFantasy magazine in September 2006. Square Enix will ship the 33rd volume on July 27. Kuroshitsuji has a cumulative of 34 million copies in circulation.

Yen Press licensed the manga in English and released the 31st volume on May 31 last year. The 32nd volume is scheduled to go on sale on July 18.

A-1 Pictures adapted the manga into three seasons in Fall 2008, Summer 2010, and Summer 2014. They also produced an original video animation and a movie. The latest entry in the series, Book of the Atlantic, opened in theaters in January 2017.

It's really cool that this anime is continuing. This goes back so far, like the internet has changed SO much since this show started with it's first couple of seasons ╭( ๐ _๐)╮

It’s been 84 years 👵 jk 😂 quite sad bcoz they change to new studio but hopefully nothing major changes to the main characters & SID will do the opening theme song again like past seasons..now Noragami need new season too🥲 so many good anime stuck at season 2,3 & not completed like Fruit Baskets 😭

So excited for this! Recently I thought about Kuroshitsuji and then, I found the trailer of the new anime. I have a lot of sweet memories with friends through this series.

I saw the announcement on Reddit and Twitter and I legit screamed. My prayers have been answered after all this time. I just finished rewatching book of circus, murder, and Atlantic after seeing the news. My heart is so full. I cannot wait to see baby boy Ciel and Sebas-chan again!!!

Amazing news! After 6 years since the movie and the fandom boom having died down, I had given up hope of any anime continuation until the manga finishes and we get an entire new beginning-to-end anime, FMAB-style.

Idk if they're continuing into the school arc or what, but happy to hear it's not forgotten about all the same

I was solely referring to Kuroshitsuji II that had Alois and Claude. I'm grateful for the Book of Circus and Book of Atlantis adaptation and think they did a decent job at them, but that 100% non-canon season was completely unnecessary and was horribly written.

Apparently we did. I found Book of Atlantic enjoyable in it's own way because it's a great arc, but the visuals were very lackluster. I already mentioned the bad CGI but the animation itself was also minimal and not very fluid so I feel the manga is the superior version of that storyline.

If you're saying you love the film inspite of the visuals and not because of them, then I can understand, but as an adaptation it was at best mediocre and I'm very glad to see a different studio helm the series

You do realize A1 pictures made seasons 1 and 2 right? They're the ones that made this mess in the first place.
