Netflix Japan announced on Thursday that Tsukasa Hojo's City Hunter manga is receiving a Japanese live-action movie adaptation. The movie is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2024.

Ryouhei Suzuki (Hentai Kamen) is starring as Ryou Saeba. Yuuichi Satou (Kisaragi) is directing the movie with Tatsuhiro Mishima handling the script. Yoshihide Ootomo (Inu-Ou) is composing the music. Shinichi Takahashi is serving as the executive producer, with Keisuke Sanpei and Kousuke Oshida being credited as producers.

Hojo serialized the comedy detective manga in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine from February 1985 to November 1991. The manga inspired four television anime, an original video anime, four anime movies, and three specials

City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes, the latest anime movie in the franchise, premiered in February 2019, grossing over 1.5 billion yen at the box office. A new anime movie, City Hunter: The Movie, is scheduled to open in theaters in 2023.

The series was also previously adapted into multiple live-action adaptations outside Japan, including a Hong-Kong live action movie released in 1993, as well as a French live-action movie titled Nicky Larson et le parfum de Cupidon in February 2019.

this series is literally one of the more fit to live action adaptation than any other series. if netflix still fail at that, there is something in inherently problematic with their scriptwriter choice.

This is Netflix Japan. Basically just an ordinary Japanese movie that Netflix publishes. Like their Korean division with Squid Game.

Well, I got tired of trying to watch anime on the beach after my third or fourth try. Although the first time it was quite authentic.

Imagine doing it on the grass with all the dirt and insects crawling up.

You reminded me of the grass and I suddenly realized that this is quite nostalgic for me, since I have not sat directly on the grass since childhood.

They all already have a great mold in the 2019 film to base it from, the only thing they gotta do is not mess it up.
exactly, the frence live action was excellent, and that one isn't highly budged. if they fumbled even this franchise, think netflix has much bigger problem in their staff recruitment and planning it self.

Believe me, it gets boring after a while, it becomes a mundane part of life like seeing a car or a convenience store.

Understand. Although with such a view outside the window, I would be more distracted all the time, lol.

Do you watch anime in the comfort of your own home, or do you prefer to watch it on your gadgets in some picturesque cafe or park?

Quite lovely indeed, pretty peaceful and quiet. A nice place to enjoy anime and video games away from the bustle of the big cities.

If you're talking about a well-preserved quiet northern European city with a medieval aesthetic, then yes, as someone who has lived all his life in a city that only appeared in the 18th century, I love this.

Yeah that's pretty accurate, if you had seen the anime Gochiusa, then you'd have a pretty good idea how Alsace looks like.

I see. No problem, I don't want to be intrusive. I don't know much about your region other than basic historical facts, but the google photos look pretty authentic.

Great! I will definitely watch this movie! Thanks! Very pity that they haven't done TV series. It would be great!

Yeah you should, it's really fun and accurate, it's straight up city hunter through and through down to the corny jokes and slap stick comedy.

Yes, I will watch it! Thank you so much!
