'Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru' TV Anime Gets Sequel

The official website of the Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-up Darling) television anime announced a sequel on Saturday, revealing a promotional video. Original creator Shinichi Fukuda drew an illustration celebrating the announcement (pictured).

Produced by CloverWorks, the television anime aired in 12 episodes in Winter 2022. Crunchyroll and Funimation simulcast the anime with subtitles and subsequently with an English dub.

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru adapts Fukuda's romantic slice of life manga, which started in Young Gangan magazine in January 2018. Square Enix shipped the ninth volume on March 25 and scheduled the tenth volume for a September 24 release.

Square Enix also began releasing the manga in English under its Manga & Books imprint in April 2020. The publisher shipped the sixth volume on August 16.

Synopsis
High school student Wakana Gojou spends his days perfecting the art of making hina dolls, hoping to eventually reach his grandfather's level of expertise. While his fellow teenagers busy themselves with pop culture, Gojou finds bliss in sewing clothes for his dolls. Nonetheless, he goes to great lengths to keep his unique hobby a secret, as he believes that he would be ridiculed were it revealed.

Enter Marin Kitagawa, an extraordinarily pretty girl whose confidence and poise are in stark contrast to Gojou's meekness. It would defy common sense for the friendless Gojou to mix with the likes of Kitagawa, who is always surrounded by her peers. However, the unimaginable happens when Kitagawa discovers Gojou's prowess with a sewing machine and brightly confesses to him about her own hobby: cosplay. Because her sewing skills are pitiable, she decides to enlist his help.

As Gojou and Kitagawa work together on one cosplay outfit after another, they cannot help but grow close—even though their lives are worlds apart. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm squeaking like a happy cat with sour cream - this anime deserves a sequel, purely humanly. The topics raised are so relevant for teenagers and so touching the memories of adults... And I can't help but agree that the main characters are damn good and natural! I see myself in the main character, and I want to be with myself more. In general, cosplay is top!

Hyped for the sequel. Liked the prequel and Marin doing cosplay with the help of Gojo. Which development of their friendship is good and wholesome

This was inevitable. The anime was too popular to give up. Planning is one thing that probably needed some consideration.

I've watched it. From a writing perspective, it takes the harem & ecchi genre and screws them into a bombastic, care-free package known a Marin who is the whole reason most people watched this (myself included) as she is the character who makes the whole show. Without her, the series would be pretty generic.

Also, you can tell the animators had fun.

This is one of those anime which i don't know why it's so popular despite being very generic, just like Quintessential Quintuplets and Demon slayer. But good for the fans i guess

you are answering your own question. It's generic and familiar, that's why it was popular. Typical homo sapiens will be mad at what they don't understand. Some peeps just wanna have fun or don't want to use that much brain energy to consume something. Also dressup is not really that generic, romance wise yes but for many peeps including me, this show actually changes how we see cosplayers. It changes peeps that thought cosplaying was cringe and childish to actually respecting them and the effort had to go through.

I mean Oreimo got a full adaptation and I consider Eromanga Sensei more superior so I think it deserves it as well.

Hopefully Eromanga Sensei.. but likely be next week during the Aniplex event since that's who has the license for the series.
