Yamazaki began drawing the fantasy supernatural manga, also known as Mahoyome, in Monthly Comic Blade in November 2013 before switching it to Monthly Comic Garden due to the former ceasing serialization. Mag Garden simultaneously serializes the manga on its MAGCOMI website and published the 17th volume on March 10. Mahoutsukai no Yome has a cumulative 10 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Wit Studio produced the Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito (The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star) three-episode prequel original video anime, bundled with the sixth, seventh, and eighth volumes from 2016–2017. The 24-episode television anime premiered in Fall 2017, adapting till the ninth volume.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in October 2014 and published the 15th volume last October. The 16th volume is scheduled for an October 25 release. The manga is also published in multiple foreign languages, including Polish, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Finnish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

The Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi (The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm) original video anime, produced by Studio Kafka, is being bundled with special edition of volumes 16–18. The 18th volume will ship with the third and final episode on September 9.

Synopsis
Despite having the ability to see otherworldly creatures, Chise Hatori has never considered herself lucky. Ever since her parents abandoned her at a young age, it has been the center of her hardship, driving her to the point of selling herself to the slave market, just to secure a place she can call home.

Presented to the bidders as a rare ''Sleigh Beggy''—beings who have an unusually high affinity to magical energies—Chise's last remaining hope appears in the form of Elias Ainsworth, a mysterious magus more beast than man. Rather than keep her as a slave, he has decided to make her his apprentice, as well as his bride.

Chise is not only physically transported to the English countryside where Elias lives, but also introduced to a world where wondrous things such as fairies and dragons are the norm. But she soon realizes there is as much to fear in her new life as there is to marvel at. And lying at the heart of it all is the question of whether she has fallen into the hands of something much darker than her own inner demons. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Well this is gona be great I'm looking forward to this.
But a little worried how the first season got 24 episodes, and even thou this arc isn't finished, if it will got like 12 episodes or it will get seperated to part 1 and part 2 like it's happening lately to other series.

Nice! Easily of the more unique fantasy anime out there, with good world-building and characters. I really liked the visual style of the first season as well. The change in studio makes me a bit apprehensive though

Well I'll be, happiness has descended upon me once more.

I think the only other time I've felt this happy, was when "Shaman King" was announced, to be getting the brotherhood treatment.
Currently I'm watching "Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi". So I'll be all caught up to the show, by the time she comes out.

I was offsite on another site unrelated to MAL and saw a reference to a recently released visual for season two of Mahoutsukai no Yome. "What visual? What season two? Is this one of those false ad clickbait nonsense stunts?", I asked to myself hesitantly, but at once feverishly and frantically.

Then I returned to MAL. This has made my day or week? No. Perish the thought. My month, year, maybe life! I truly do not know what to expect or how the bizarre mixture of shock and longing in my heart can be quelled. Mahoutsukai no Yome will exist in the future as something longer and more than just a one season series? And possibly introduce new highs and lows which never existed previously leading me to re-evaluate and feel differently about the whole show? Will it be bittersweet or frustrating, or only build and expand upon the best of the elements which made season one such a unique and hauntingly beautiful experience? Will a spot finally have to be cleared out one way or the other for Mahoutsukai no Yome in my Top 10? Can it really be true? Is that the last word? Am I awake or dreaming?

This is another of the series that I find it very difficult to categorize and even a traditional rating and ranking doesn't really adequately do it justice as it's such a singular experience and force of nature rather than a regular TV show. Partially due to their willingness to seamlessly juggle and transition between so many mini-arcs, ideas, and tone, but also just owing to the fact that if you truly identify with any of the main characters individually and/or any aspect of their relationships or histories or present living situation, this becomes an extra cozy and touching, sometimes nauseating or frightening, bona fide heartfelt odyssey and emotional/psychological rollercoaster. All with a "Harry Potter" in girl form sorting bug-sheep and mixing up cough medicines and tonics with fairies and spirits in the English countryside.

Although now I've heard the sporadically mentioned university is involved. Hogwarts? Will this prove the tale of two shows? Will they become one story, fused to such an extent such that a six year gap between seasons will become irrelevant for future audiences, and even in the present, the dividing line will become functionally invisible to us? Will it become messier but remain something so powerful with nothing else quite like it? I worry that it's almost unattainable to do equally as well or exceed everything that was brought to the table and in the manner it was as in the first season. Yet then I think maybe it doesn't matter at all, because for those truly exemplary series once complete, I rarely even make the mental distinction of dividing them into "seasons" (or "cours", where applicable) at all.

@SofiaBulga - Did you know about this happening today or know anything about a rumored announcement or something in the works with an unspecified timeframe? This left me blindsided and staggering, but with this contented inebriated feeling.
