Anime Movie 'Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning' Reveals Cast, Main Staff

The DigiFes 2022 event revealed on Saturday the main cast, returning staff, and the official title for the Digimon Adventure 02 anime movie. The movie will premiere under the title Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.

Ken Ichijouji: Arthur Lounsbery (Starmyu)
Wormmon: Naozumi Takahashi (Tennis no Ouji-sama)
Miyako Inoue: Ayaka Asai (Mairimashita! Iruma-kun)
Hawkmon: Kouichi Toochika (Naruto)
Iori Hida: Yoshitaka Yamaya (Jujutsu Kaisen (TV))
Armadimon: Megumi Urawa (World Trigger)
Takeru Takaishi: Junya Enoki (Tonikaku Kawaii)
Patamon: Miwa Matsumoto (Digimon Adventure)
Hikari Yagami: Mao Ichimichi (Enen no Shouboutai)
Tailmon: Yuka Tokumitsu (Ojamajo Doremi)
Rui Owada: Megumi Ogata (Neon Genesis Evangelion) NEW
Ukkomon: Rie Kugimiya (Toradora!) NEW

Note: The cast list includes returning members from previous entries. The new cast are denoted with legend NEW.

Tomohisa Taguchi (Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna) returns to direct the new movie at Yumeta Company. Akatsuki Yamatoya (Soul Eater) is also returning to pen the script. Toei Animation is producing the anime.

The anime movie is a sequel to Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna which opened in Japan in February 2020.

I was pretty sure the movie would be a sequel of the 2020 reboot.

I never enjoyed very much the 02 Team. I always have the feeling they were "usurpers" to the original cast and now It will happen again.

Yes, this is very exciting news. Love me some Digimon Adventure.

The title makes it seem like it's a prequel but they say it's a sequel to the latest movie so it could indeed be a series like Tri.

I wonder if this will finally fill in the gap between Last Evolution Kizuna and the ending of 02.

Still, good to see them give the spotlight to the 02 kids after their absense in Tri and very minor appearance in Last Evolution Kizuna.

Haven't seen any of this whole franchise (though I am happy for the fans), but it is really exciting to see Megumi Ogata is still around! :D

I think I heard something about that, but still, audio drama just isn't the same thing as anime.
