Manga 'Dark Gathering' Gets TV Anime in 2023

Pony Canyon opened an official website for the television anime adaptation of Kenichi Kondou's Dark Gathering manga on Tuesday, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video. The anime is set to premiere in 2023.

Hiroshi Ikehata (Tonikaku Kawaii) is directing the anime at OLM.

Kondou started serializing the horror manga in March 2019 in Jump SQ. magazine. The ninth volume was released on March 4, with the tenth volume to be shipped on August 4.

Synopsis
Keitarou Gentouga is a college freshman who hates ghosts. Unluckily for him, he has a knack for attracting spirits. Two years ago, this connection had led to him receiving a spiritual injury on his right hand, with his friend getting caught in the crossfire. The event caused him to become a shut-in, leaving him with very poor social skills. Fortunately, Keitarou is slowly starting to mingle with society, thanks to the help of his childhood friend, Eiko Houzuki.

As part of his rehabilitation, Keitarou takes on the part-time job of a private tutor, and his first pupil is none other than Eiko's cousin, Yayoi Houzuki. Besides being a child prodigy, there is another peculiarity regarding Yayoi—she has a spiritual constitution, just like Keitarou. However, in contrast to Keitarou, she yearns to encounter spirits, hoping to find the ghost that took her mother away. As Keitarou is dragged along by Yayoi and Eiko to haunted spots, his part-time job seems to be straying further and further away from its original purpose. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This is one of the few genuine horror manga. It's incredibly well detailed, and INCREDIBLY fucked up. This shit will give you nightmares. Most fucked up story for me is either

The graduate ghosts are awesome as well. Very creative. The sergeant is my favorite. He wants you to kill him, and will actually make himself weaker. But he'll copy his weakness onto you, so if you don't kill him in one attack, you waste away to nothing. And he's one of the morally GOOD ghosts.

Omg yes I'm so excited! Dark Gathering is one of my favourite horror mangas! The ghost are terrifying but the choreography between the ghost battling each other are so well drawn even without them speaking. Cant wait for the anime I'm definitely gonna watch it when it comes out. You think Mieruko is scary? Hah! Mieruko's ghost are comedic in comparison to these monsters.

it's closer to ghost hunt (the actual one, not the comedy dub one) rather than mieruko but much more hardcore or should i say edgier. about kids who fight and exorcist actually malicious ghost. the twist is that the kids "tamed" them gathering those wicked ghost to fight the ultimate ghost that kill the kids mom.
