Oh god, I was really hoping that this would be the episode where they finally get rid of that annoying extra member, but I guess we'll have to wait a little longer. I was really enjoying the dynamic of the small group, and I think it's a shame that they're going back to the 9-member status quo. I'm curious to see how this will play out, but I have a feeling it won't be as good as the last few episodes. Quite disappointed.

Totally fine with more members.
First, it is normal in a club that new members join.
Second, the new girls are quite cute (as well as their voice actress).

First they broke the Nijigasaki status as a bunch of solo members by forming units. Now they expanded Liella to standard 9 members. Why making everything generic? I still like the franchise probably but I only watch selected music videos lately.

Nijigasaki are still mainly soloists... they still release new solo songs every year. A majority of their library are still solo songs. Like 55% solo songs, 35% unit songs, and 15% full club formation.

If we do get a sequel, they likely would revert to solo again. The reason they did units was to prove Lanzhu that her ideals was flawed. That being a solo idol doesn't necessarily mean she's all by herself.

I'm a little disappointed they expanded Liella into 9 members. The reduced cast is one of the facets that made Superstar special and refreshing to me, but I'll keep an open mind and see how it plays out

Wait, they're going to join Liella instead of being a secondary unit? Well that's dull. The more focused cast was one of the biggest strengths of the original.

It seems I'm not the only one who enjoyed the first season only being 5. I'll still enjoy the second season but I doubt as much as I did the first one.

I'm a little disappointed they expanded the members, but I'm ready to relax with another season anyways. Mei and Shiki are already my favs out of the new members. Natsumi reminds me a little too much of Sumire from my first impression, but I giving her a chance

Nijigaku still being a solo idol. Those sub-units are just their additional feature. They still release a solo song for each Niji's idol. The second season just focuses on a sub-unit because it was focused on the solo in the first season already.
The niji sub-units are something similar to µ's and Aqours which get both group idol and sub-unit. µ's and Aqours got sub-units, but they never exist in the anime. Aqours also got a solo song for each member as well.
btw, those 3 sub-units were formed in 2019.

As for Liella expanding to 9 members. Some said that it was planned from the start as it has a lot of clues in the first season of the anime which are a hint that Liella might get additional members.

Oh god, this was the best installment because of the small group, and they decide to go back to the 9 members status… quite disappointed. Let’s see how this will go.
