Winners of 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Announced

Asahi Shimbun announced the winners of the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize on Monday. Nine nominees announced in February were chosen from volumes published last year with votes and recommendations from bookstore staff and manga officials. The awards ceremony will be held on June 2 at the Hamarikyuu Asahi Small Hall in Tsukiji, Tokyo.

Grand Prize: Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite by Uoto
New Work Prize: Kyoushitsu no Katasumi de Seishun ga Hajimaru and Konya Sukiyaki da yo by Natsuko Taniguchi
Short Work Prize: Hakumokuren wa Kirei ni Chiranai and Ii Toshi wo by Izumi Okaya

The Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize was established in 1997 and is an annual manga prize awarded to mangaka and their works that follow the manga approach of the late Osamu Tezuka.

“Konya Sukiyaki da yo” has almost the same premise as the manga “Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita“ except sukiyaki doesn’t have a yuri tag. Of course I don’t know which manga came first though.

Not at all surprised at the winner the rest of the nominees couldn't even hold a candle to chi chikyuu , let alone win over it . Not just because of its brilliance , but also because the rest wernt really that much of a competition )
It's an excellent work , filled with very unique panelling and layouts . The author has done a lot of extreme amount of research and it shows .

More than anime , it's very likely going to be in live action format considering the content . And honestly I would back that .

I literally watched a video on Saturday that was talking about that first manga listed as a winner....I might have to actually check it out now
