Ichijinsha announced a television anime adaptation of Nekotoufu's Oniichan wa Oshimai! (Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!) manga on Friday. The publishing company also opened an official website, revealing the main cast, staff, and a teaser visual (pictured).

Voice actresses Marika Kouno (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni.) and Kaori Ishihara (Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara) are starring as Mahiro Oyama and Mihari Oyama, respectively.

Staff
Director: Shingo Fujii (Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu episode director)
Series Composition: Michiko Yokote (Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai!)
Character Design: Ryou Imamura (Yama no Susume Third Season opening animation director)
Production: Egg Firm
Studio: Studio Bind

Nekotoufu originally posted the comedy slice of life manga, also known by its short title Onimai, as a doujin on Pixiv in February 2017 before Ichijinsha picked it up for physical publication in June 2018. The manga began regular serialization in Monthly Comic REX in April 2019. The fifth volume went on sale last May, with the sixth volume scheduled for an April 27 release. Onimai has a cumulative 500,000 copies of its volumes in circulation.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English for digital release last June and published the fifth volume on March 22.

Synopsis
Mahiro Oyama was just a normal erotic-game loving dude...until he woke up one morning as a woman! Turns out his mad-scientist little sister, Mihari, tried out one of her new experiments on him...with a disastrous outcome, as far as Mahiro's concerned! But Mihari is as determined to study him as he is determined to go back to his shut-in, game-playing life, and one thing's for sure...life is going to get a whole lot weirder from here on out! They went from making Mushoku Tensei to a CGDCT comedy, Quite the twist if I've seen one

I was laughing throughout the first 20 chapters because of how hilarious it is (I rarely enjoy comedy, I only laugh that much when it is Gintama-level of comedy). But I started getting really bored when the middle school starts. Should I continue reading the manga? Moe is not my genre~
Understandable. As much as I love the manga, if middle school part is where you started to get bored, I don't recommend to continue reading it. It's not like gender-bender elements (probably the parts that you find funny) completely disappeared but it's obvious they're not the focus anymore. I think the author ran out of ideas to make jokes out of them.

The plot still progresses bit by bit tho. (Minor spoiler ahead:)

Let's fucking go!!!!! My fave gender-bender manga, altho in later chapters it pretty much dropped gender-bender aspect and just turned into a moe CGDCT. I'd be happy to see the reactions of this manga's scanlators who always put so much love and effort in scanlating this and always talk about how they want an anime adaptation.

The English translation of the title is wrong i think..with my limited japanese..

Oniichan means elder brother... And oshimai is polite form of shimai which means sister...

So the title could mean 'big brother is now sister'..
The Japanese title is a double pun. Oshimai means sister, yes, but it can also mean "end" or "something's done for" in a negative sense. So the title can be translated in two ways: "Brother is now sister" or "Brother is done for" (cuz his life as a guy came to an end). That's why 'oshimai' is written in all hiragana and not kanji. The scanlators of this manga took liberty of translating the title as "Onii-chan is done for" at first but when its volumes licensed by Kodansha, the official stylization of the title becomes "Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!". It's not a literal translation, yes, but it's not wrong either cuz it's the usual stylization for localized English titles.

I didn't realize it from the poster, but... I've read this manga! I didn't think it'd get an adaptation lmaooooo. The English title I read it under was like "Onii-chan is done for".

I thought it was some weird step-sister romance from the title.

Too bad that Studio Bind is wasting time and resources on this.

If you think an anime version of an experiment from Johnny Test is normal that is.

Excellent choice of voice actress for Mihari though.

Yo I didn’t think this manga would get an anime. Can’t wait for all of the new Mahiro faces that’ll come out of this.

Gonna check it out just for Bind. Otherwise I would’ve probably skipped.

Funny premise, but I'm surprised that this studio is making other anime....Was hoping that they focused solely on Mushoku Tensei tbh but oh well. I guess this can help add to their pockets if its successful

i hope Bind becomes and stays a goated studio

I was wondering when this would get an adaption given it's popularity. So ultimately it was just a matter of time. Looking forward to this, but obviously with a bit of skepticism, because there is a good chance not everyone will consider it appropriate, even though there isn't actually anything bad to it. Either way it's gonna be fun to see how much they will adapt and if they'll skip anything.
