Multiplayer Online Game 'Jantama' Gets TV Anime in Spring 2022

The Nijisanji Mahjong Cup 2022 tournament announced a television anime adaptation of Cat Food Studio and Yostar's Jantama (Mahjong Soul) multiplayer online game on Sunday. The anime series, titled Jantama Pong☆ (Mahjong Soul Pon☆), will air in April 2022.

Director Kenshirou Morii (Animegataris, BanG Dream! Garupa☆Pico chief director) is helming the television anime. Scooter Films, a new animation studio established by production company Twin Engine alongside Bug Films in October 2021, is producing the anime.

Cat Food Studio published the multiplayer browser game in China in June 2018. Yostar released the game in Japan and internationally the following April and subsequently on iOS and Android platforms.

Even if you don't have any clue what's going on, is still very entertaining. The character relationship, their background, motivation etc. The series have a snail pacing but it uses that to expand upon the characters. In the end you will root for everyone to win, not just the protagonists.

What the hell? That's the game Inaba Haneru was playing so much around mid 2021. From the looks of it, it will be a short.
