Manga 'MF Ghost' Gets TV Anime Adaptation for 2023

Avex Pictures opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Shuuichi Shigeno's MF Ghost manga on Tuesday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured) and teaser promo. The anime series is scheduled for a 2023 airing.

Shigeno launched the car-themed sports manga in Weekly Young Magazine in September 2017, approximately four years after ending Initial D. MF Ghost takes place about 15 years following the events in Initial D. Kodansha published the 12th volume on September 6. The manga has a cumulative 3 million copies of its volumes in print.

Synopsis
Year 202X. Self-driving electric cars have replaced internal combustion engine-based cars, becoming ubiquitous in Japan. However, a racing circuit known as MFG, which employs traditional internal combustion cars, is garnering popularity worldwide.

Kanata Livington, a 19-year-old Japanese-British racer, comes to Japan after graduating from a top racing school in the United Kingdom to take part in MFG and find his missing father, Ken Katagiri. Kanata moves to the home of his late mother's friends—Mr. and Mrs. Saionji—and enters the race under his father's surname, borrowing a Toyota 86 from Ogata, the couple's family friend. Despite the overwhelming disadvantages in specs, Kanata makes it to the top 15 while racing top-tier supercars, demonstrating his phenomenal skills.

Takumi Fujiwara, the legendary downhill and rally racer, turns out to be Kanata's trainer. MFG employees who are familiar with Fujiwara and former racers from the same generation begin to notice Kanata. A new whirlwind is about to set off at MFG.

If you've been thinking to get a GT-86, BR-Z or FR-S, now is the time. These days even a project car AE86 can easily go for 10 grand or more

lol at first I was like wtf are you on about but then the second half kicked in and it really does sound like it lmao inb4 another Hamilton cameo

but it's nice to see this time there's a more broad focus on cars rather than just JDM ala initial d. 488, huracan, evora, 4C not too shabby

also tfw they decide to make an amalgamation of that shitty 2D from the movie and the 3d from the series. why not just stick with the goddamn 3D which was better anyways

Saw leaks earlier, but its nice to get some real confirmation now!

Hoping it has eurobeat, and more importantly that it'd be worth watching; reading thru some discussions of the manga and it doesn't make me too hyped..
