'Golden Kamuy' Gets Fourth Anime Season

The 2021 special event for the Golden Kamuy television anime announced a fourth season on Sunday. The event also revealed new staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and an announcement promo.

Series Composition: Noboru Takagi (Golden Kamuy)
Character Design: Takumi Yamakawa (Grimms Notes the Animation animation director)
Studio: Brain's Base

Golden Kamuy adapts Satoru Noda's historical adventure manga, which began in Young Jump magazine in August 2014. Shueisha shipped the 27th volume on September 22. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and will release the 24th volume on December 21. The manga has a cumulative 17 million copies in circulation.

The three seasons produced by Geno Studio aired in Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Fall 2020, each running for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed all three seasons with subtitles and an English dub, respectively.

Golden Kamuy ranked first in the 9th Manga Taisho rankings, received the Grand Prize in the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and placed seventh in the male readers' division in the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.

amazing news, golden kamuy is such a gem and despite its relative low popularity around these parts, it getting a FOURTH season shows that at least somewhere, it's properly appreciated.

i am worried though about the move to a new studio and more importantly, a new director.
it may have not had absolute top tier visuals but it always felt consistent and very well put together pacing and style wise, hopefully none of its charm and brilliant execution of all of the show's different and unique parts, would end up taking an hit from this change.

Hmm... seems like MHA who has each season every 1 year + dubbed by funimation and have eng casts who voiced in both anime, such as monica rial

On the contrary, they seem pretty busy. Nanba posted on Twitter that they just couldn't do the fourth season since they just didn't have time to work on it.

hell yeah!!! really hoping the new studio can do golden kamuy justice.
can't wait for the kikuta's and boutarou's debuts! not to mention the return to hokkaido & bear man arcs.

Technically they got a better studio but they got a worst director.... Idk how to feel about that change lol.

YES! This is such good news. So glad to see this continue. Just recently bought ALL the manga in basically one go. Haven't yet caught up but now I'm very motivated to do so.

According to this tweet by the old director, Geno Studio aren’t doing it due to the schedule to fitting . But I didn’t think geno where doing anything new atm unless they turned it down due to the schedule itself not being what they would like
