The January 2022 issue of Monthly Afternoon announced a television anime adaptation of Misaki Takamatsu's Skip to Loafer (Skip and Loafer) manga on Monday.

Synopsis
Excellent student Iwakura Mitsumi has always dreamt about leaving her small town, going to a prestigious university, and making positive change in the world. But she's so focused on reaching her goals that she's not prepared for the very different (and overwhelming) city life that awaits her in a Tokyo high school. Luckily, she makes fast friends with Shima Sousuke, a handsome classmate who's as laid-back as she is over-prepared. Can this naive country girl make it big in Tokyo with Sousuke by her side? (Source: Seven Seas Entertainment)

Takamatsu began drawing the slice of life comedy manga in Monthly Afternoon in August 2018. Kodansha published the sixth volume on Monday (pictured). Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English this February and will ship the second volume on Tuesday.

Skip to Loafer ranked seventh in the male readers' division in the 2020 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings. The manga was also nominated for the 13th Manga Taisho award and in the General category at the 44th Kodansha Manga Awards.

I've read through the synopsis 4 times and I still don't see any sign of a plot. Pass.

Seems another romcom adaption. The plot seems generic

The synopsis doesn't do justice to the manga at all. This is anything but a generic romcom. Read the first 3 chapters and you'll see.

I don't think the existence of a queer character in the plot makes this series LGBTQ
yeah, there is only 2 chapter focused around this LGBT character so it's not exactly an LGBTQ oriented series, but the series still give very careful and respected representation of LGBTQ issue.

If this is done normally and neutrally, then I do not pay attention to it at all.

i guess it is more comedy version of blue period but not art themed. it also has lot of character which has different issue including self expression and queer issue. one of main character in this series is an LGBT (female lead currently living with her used to be uncle now aunt).

Sounds like Blue Period, only without queer topics and problems of self-expression.

very excited about this! highly recommend reading if you are hesitating at all— there’s quite a bit of introspection into each character and it’s a really refreshing read.

from what i've read soo far, it still stay true to SOL rom com. but it does touch teenager issue in very respectable manner if i have to said. from insecurities, family issue affecting your friend relationship, or in recent chapter, awkward communication between friends because they see different value in life.

I find it amusing how the author actually turned into a cute school rom-com plot that you most likely expect to find as a prologue to something very dark and lewd. Or maybe I've just seen so much shit that things like "a naive girl comes to the capital" gives me too many bad associations.

100% will watch. Had to only read the first 3 lines of the synopsis to guess this is promising.

LMAO. I can see why, you've seen too much my friend.

Before making such statement (that I'm not skipping on this) I made sure to check the tags, and thankfully ecchi was not one of them. I'm pretty sure it can get dark or have dry humor, but I don't think it'll be extreme.

Well, I haven't read the original manga, I don't know, but I doubt it will follow the typical "capital people is weird" path. Most likely the main jokes will be that MC is too not-trendy.

It's Afternoon though, a magazine that publishes things like Tengoku Daimakyou, Blue Period, Nami yo Kiitekure and Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (I recommend this to you if you want a stylish crime story with a female MC), so I wouldn't be completely surprised if they touch on some of the darker sides of metropolitan life.

I've seen this manga a lot so I've always been kind of curious but never motivated enough to pick up the manga. Will wait for the anime instead.
