Anime Project of Light Novel 'Sugar Apple Fairy Tale' in Progress
Synopsis
After her mother passes away, Ann decides to become a Silver Sugar Master like her mother—a highly regarded occupation in the country of Highland, where very few masters of the craft exist. Ann leaves for the town of Lewiston, where the royal family holds a sugar sculpture festival. To become a Silver Sugar Master, she has to win the top spot and receive a royal medal.
In this world, humans treat fairies as slaves and take one of their wings to control them. Ann reluctantly buys a fairy named Shall to be a bodyguard on her way to Lewiston. Ann is torn between setting Shall free, but needing a bodyguard on the dangerous roads to the festival. (Source: J-Novel Club Forums, edited)

1) this, or at least the manga is, a shoujo seriously we've been lacking those a lot lately
2) this is somewhat fairy-tale inspired which i never thought the industry would try to do again
3) believe it or not the industry is FINALLY producing something i actually frickin recognize
...yeah, i meant that last part seriously.
i read a tiny bit of the manga adaptation 2 years ago. don't remember much of it since i read so little of it back then, so even if i wanted to be mean for some reason, i thankfully can't spoil you guys, gals, and pals... i'm not going to put this on my PTW list quite yet cuz i want to wait for staff announcement and PVs, but just know that i'm finally even the slightest bit announcement for a new anime after a while. this is also good cuz that means the light novels and manga have a good chance of getting releases outside of Japan so i don't have to rely on potentially scattershot fan translations anymore.
@Psajdak you made that thread on fairy tale theme working in 2020s anime a while ago, ik this isn't adaptation of classics but thoughts?
the manga adaptation is pretty obscure even on the shoujo side, so i think i might be able to at least answer a few questions based on my limited knowledge and memory on it.

Gonna skip it, if it's turn out to be another slow life anime.
"These manga feature characters who have had their fill of excitement, adventures, and drama, and seek a more peaceful life. They may be Isekai'd heroes, villains, high-ranking adventurers, or a typical salaryman, but they all share something in common: they've had enough and want to retire to a slow and peaceful life." (from Anime-Planet)
because i clearly remember the manga being more about the heroine and fairy companion traveling
so no this is not a slow life light novel series
this is definitely not isekai either which i think will be a breath of fresh air

I think I read some of it a while ago- I confess I can't remember exactly what happened, but it was decent. Depending on the quality of adaptation, this has potential

Sooo glad more light novels targeted at a female demographic are being adapted! Definitely adding to my PTW and hope this trend continues! ^-^

I hope this turns out good. I can’t help but be skeptical of a novel that had 17 volumes written over a mere 5 years.

The latest LN adaptations with female protagonists have been so moe-ish that it's even unusual for me to see the new LN shoujo talk about both female and male characters.
