This year's August issue of Ultra Jump revealed on Thursday that Hirohiro Araki's JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 8: JoJolion (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 8: Jojolion) manga will end in the magazine's next issue on August 19 after a ten-year serialization.

Synopsis
In 2011, childhood friends Yasuho Hirose and Joushuu Higashikata discover a naked man buried in the ground just outside the town of Morioh. The man has no memory of his name or previous life; the only thing he remembers about himself is how to use his Stand, a supernatural ability that takes the form of a humanoid creature. The stranger is quickly given a name, Jousuke, and Joushuu's father Norisuke decides to adopt him into the Higashikata household until he can find his own home.

As Jousuke begins to investigate his past, it becomes apparent that he is no ordinary amnesiac. There is much more to his identity than he first suspected, and, as he is thrust into a series of high-stakes Stand battles, he soon begins unravelling a deadly conspiracy that encompasses the entire town. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Araki began drawing the eighth part of his JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) supernatural adventure manga series on Ultra Jump in May 2011. Shueisha shipped the 26th volume on May 19 (pictured).

JoJolion won the Grand Prize at the 2013 Japan Media Arts Festival in the manga division. In the same year, it placed 12th among male readers in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.

10 years is an impressive run.

Now I can binge read the entire part. I hate to wait for chapters. The reason why I prefer the finished ones. SBR gave me a ride like none other. I know it's not that good. But I'm hoping for a good one for sure..

Well that was a long time to run.

I'm not a huge JoJo fan but to my understanding, Part 8 was rather long running compared to the other parts. Makes me wonder how many episodes it would have if it got adapted to an anime. I also hear Part 9 is already in the works? I think that's pretty crazy.

Feels like yesterday when I read the first chapter in another country 10 years ago...

Holy shit, finally. Haven't read the latest chapters because I wanted to wait for some more to be released to read them all at once. Ended up not enjoying Jojolion all that much unfortunately. Still having high hopes for part 9.

While it was obvious that the climax of this manga has started in the recent months, I expected JoJolion to last until Fall 2021, to be honest. Interesting. I wonder how the ending will be like, then.

Even if part 9 gets announced right now I won't be hyped anymore. Looking at what Jojolion is, it seems that Araki has lost his muse for good.

Even by 2016 JoJolion (5 years running at the time) outsold SBR (7 year run) in total # of copies sold so I highly fucking doubt they would cancel the way more popular of the 2 parts (by sales). SBR did not sell nearly as well as you might think though not to say it flopped because it didn't.

And the latest volumes sell about 200K when it was selling near 500K at the start and midway point.
People were bored and it was cancelled.
Most series published on Ultra Jump (Jumps by far least popular segment) don't even have 200k average volume sales but ok. This would equate to roughly 600k annual sales annually since volumes have 4 or so chapters and its a monthly seinen. JoJolion's current volume sales at its lowest now are over 60% the total average sales per volume of the entirety of Steel Ball Run combined. Plus, it's pretty impressive that JoJolion managed to keep nearly half its readers buying volumes 10 years in at this point so its not even like it was a rapid decline and it just suddenly fell off.

Odd, I could've sworn I read about an interview with Araki a few months back(April I think) about this already.
He said part 8 would end soon and that he planned to move forward with Part 9. It was some ANN article.
I suppose this is just more official than an interview transcript.

It was 90% filler, one subarc took 2 years and isn't even important.
Well, maybe that's the reason why it lost popularity and was canceled in the end ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rushed ending after 10 years of publishing? This is literally the longest part of Jojo, isn't it? He wanted it to be even longer?

It was cancelled for low sales.
Araki was complaining that he had to cut things in vol 26 and now we suddenly get the rushed ending.
