'Kaitou Queen wa Circus ga Osuki' Theatrical OVA Announced
An official website opened for a theatrical original video anime (OVA) adapting the first entry in Kaoru Hayamine's Kaitou Queen novel series on Monday. The OVA—titled Kaitou Queen wa Circus ga Osuki (Mirage Queen Aime Cirque)—is scheduled to open in theaters in 2022.
Synopsis
A phantom thief queen—whose age and gender are unknown—flies around the world on an airship in search of treasure. A gemstone the queen had their sights on is stolen from them by a mysterious circus troupe, and a game soon unfolds between the queen and the troupe's magicians, hypnotists, and other members wielding special abilities.
Hayamine began publishing the mystery novels under Kodansha's Aoitori Bunko children's imprint in March 2002 with art by K2 Shoukai. The OVA will be celebrating the series' 20th anniversary.
The 13th novel in the series, Kaitou Queen: Rengoku (Purgatory) Kinka to Ushinawareta Shiro (Mirage Queen: Purgatory Gold Coins and the Lost Castle), will ship on Wednesday.
