'Sonny Boy' Reveals Main Cast, July 16 Premiere

The official website for Madhouse's original TV anime Sonny Boy revealed the main cast on Thursday. The sci-fi survival anime will premiere on July 16 at 12:30 a.m. on Tokyo MX and KBS Kyoto, followed by broadcasts on Sun TV, BS Asahi, and RAB (Aomori Broadcasting). Funimation will stream the series with English subtitles.

Nagara: Aoi Ichikawa (Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu)
Nozomi: Saori Oonishi (Eromanga-sensei)
Mizuho: Aoi Yuuki (Koe no Katachi)
Asakaze: Chiaki Kobayashi (SK∞)

Production company Shochiku and Madhouse unveiled Sonny Boy in April and announced the main staff. The series is being written and directed by Shingo Natsume (One Punch Man). Norifumi Kugai (ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka) is adapting Hisashi Eguchi's (Perfect Blue) original character designs. Mari Fujino (Dororo) is the art director and Shouji Hata (Great Pretender) is the sound director.

Ichikawa Aoi mah boi <3 Been missing him in a main role since Tsurune! I've heard him in minor roles here and there (recently in 2.43), but glad he's getting another main role! Looking forward to this even more. Also, Mizuho's ability involves cats...I'm sold.

Oh I can't describe how I'm excited for this series. And no it's not because it's Madhouse official return in anime since No Guns Life 2 (lol), but I'm strangely attracted to it, it's giving me off some WEP & Perfect Blue vibes. Hopefully this delivers, and I can already tell that "Shounen Shoujo" will be a BANGER song.
