The official website of the television anime adapting Kumiko Saiki's Kageki Shoujo! (Kageki Shoujo!! The Curtain Rises) manga series revealed the lead cast, first key visual (pictured), first promotional video, and the opening theme performers on Friday. The anime series is set to premiere in July 2021.

Cast
Ai Narata: Yumiri Hanamori (Heya Camp△)
Sarasa Watanabe: Sayaka Senbongi (Beastars)
Kaoru Hoshino: You Taichi (Fruits Basket: The Final)
Sei Satomi: Hiroki Nanami (Nobunaga the Fool)
Chiaki Sawada: Satsumi Matsuda (Cinderella Girls Gekijou: Climax Season)
Chika Sawada: Risae Matsuda (Kanata no Astra)
Sawa Sugimoto: Sumire Uesaka (Carole & Tuesday)
Ayako Yamada: Rico Sasaki (Jashin-chan Dropkick)

Rock band trio Saji (Ahiru no Sora ending theme performance) is performing the opening "Hoshi no Orchestra."

Kazuhiro Yoneda (Gleipnir) is helming the anime at Pine Jam. Screenwriter Tadashi Morishita (Akatsuki no Yona script) is in charge of the series composition. Takahiro Kishida (Haikyuu!!) is designing the characters, and Tsuneyoshi Saitou (Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor) is composing the music.

The original ensemble drama manga launched in Jump X in May 2012 and ended in October 2014 due to the magazine ceasing serialization. Shueisha compiled the original manga into two volumes, with Hakusensha re-releasing it in a single volume titled Kageki Shoujo!! Season Zero in March 2019. Saiki began drawing a sequel manga in bi-monthly magazine Melody in February 2015, which has ten volumes in print as of November 5.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in April 2020 and shipped the first volume on November 24 that year.

This is not a show about romance at all. But even if you raise this topic, it is not yuri or yuri bait. If my memory serves me, MC even has a male love interest. Overall, I would say that this is a female version of a shonen all-male show like Haikyuu.

Oh I really hope.
The art screams "yuri bait" and when there's bait there's romance, and considering Pine Jam makes this anime and they're trash at making romance anime (just because *cough cough*)...ugh.

The reason is that this anime is based on Takarazuka, a Japanese all-female theater that has had a huge impact on Japanese lesbian and trans culture (to the point that in the 20s masculine-feminine lesbian couples were called "Takarazuka couple"). Therefore, regardless of the author's intentions, it will always give queer vibes.

Is this one of those "bait" shows ? We certainly don't have enough of these.

Sarasa is a giant, anyway hopefully there's at least a little yuri in this, even the key art there alludes to yuri.

It can be if you want it to be

Some people take it and ship

Some people don't and see a strong friendship

I don't really care about the yuri aspect in this, I'm just hoping for something good.

Since the Takarazuka Revue has inspired some really good anime in the past.

The manga is cute. Nothing amazing, but there’s some interesting stuff in there and the cast is charming. Really happy to see Yumiri get even more roles as of late; she has a great range and I’m glad she’ll get to show off her more serious voice with Ai.

It's funny that they got actual twins to voice twins.
