Third 'Non Non Biyori' Anime Season Debuts in January 2021
Shinya Kawatsura (Non Non Biyori, Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge) is reprising his director role for the third season at Silver Link. Returning staff members include screenwriter Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Hakumei to Mikochi) in change of the series composition, character designer Mai Ootsuka (Machikado Mazoku, Urara Meirochou), and background art studio Kusanagi (Kakushigoto, Hoshiai no Sora).
The first two anime seasons premiered in Fall 2013 and Summer 2015. The seventh and tenth limited edition manga volumes included two original video animation episodes in July 2014 and September 2016, respectively. The Non Non Biyori Movie: Vacation anime film opened in Japan in August 2018, grossing over 190 million yen (approximately US$1.7 million).
Non Non Biyori adapts Atto's slice of life comedy manga, which has been serialized in Comic Alive since September 2009. Kadokawa published the 15th volume on Saturday.
Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released both seasons on home video in January 2015 and November 2016. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in October 2014 and shipped the 12th volume on September 3.

2021 is looking to be pretty awesome now that Non Non Biyori starts in January.
It will have one hell of a battle with the likes of Yuru Camp season 2 airing at the same time, but for me, seeing both shows airing at the same time means a double dosage of fluffy stress-free fun and I simply can't wait for it! =3
"Nyanpasu~" vs. "Rinnnnnn-chan!!", the match-up of the year.

Since the manga takes place only in that 1 year
What do you mean by this?
there will most definitely be another reset.
Another reset... it's a bit of a letdown. However, I'm still looking forward to watching it!
I don't see why it would be a letdown, though you are not the first one from whom I hear this opinion. Non non biyori is neither primarily plot driven that we like because of its progressing story and nor mainly character driven that has a great character development so there is no need for it to move forward one year for us to see what happens next. I think it is more like an "atmosphere" or mood driven story that is defined by its soothing rural setting, the kind of idylic childhood they have and the change of the seasons that gives the sense of the ephemerality of their situation that inevitably has to come to an end. If you want to know what happens "next year", I am sure that in the end Hotaru has to move again because of her father's work and their little branch school will be closed just like Kaede's candy store and everything they have lived through together will become a nostalgic memory.

I don't actually read the manga, so I might be wrong... but I remember couple of years back reading something where the author of the manga said something along the lines that he isn't planning to ever progress the story.
The story takes place in 1 school year, it starts with beginning of the school year and it never progresses into the next school year (I'm not exactly sure when does the movie take place, but I'm guessing it's before the start of the next school year)
I was really surprised when I first watched Repeat, but I loved it immediately. I'm not a big fan of progressions, I just like things simple... If it works, don't change it :)

Is the mangaka also resetting the timeline in the manga?
We clearly saw all 4 seasons on the anime... was this original stuff?!
TBH I would prefer time to advance, Komori is at 8th grade, so she could stay around for one more year, and eventually, things would have to much on.

I hope there isn't any reset this time. Though, even if it is there I'll still watch it. It's just that good. Looking forward to it.
