Kadokawa opened an official website for a fourth anime season for Koushi Tachibana's Date A Live light novel series on Sunday. The new season will air under the title Date A Live IV.

Synopsis
Thirty years ago, the Eurasian continent was devastated by a supermassive "spatial quake"—a phenomenon involving space vibrations of unknown origin—resulting in the deaths of over 150 million people. Since then, these quakes have been plaguing the world intermittently, albeit on a lighter scale.

Shidou Itsuka is a seemingly average high school student who lives with his younger sister, Kotori. When an imminent spatial quake threatens the safety of Tengu City, he rushes to save her, only to be caught in the resulting eruption. He discovers a mysterious girl at its source, who is revealed to be a "Spirit," an otherworldly entity whose appearance triggers a spatial quake. Soon after, he becomes embroiled in a skirmish between the girl and the Anti-Spirit Team, a ruthless strike force with the goal of annihilating Spirits.

However, there is a third party that believes in saving the spirits: "Ratatoskr," which surprisingly is commanded by Shidou's little sister! Kotori forcibly recruits Shidou after the clash, presenting to him an alternative method of dealing with the danger posed by the Spirits—make them fall in love with him. Now, the fate of the world rests on his dating prowess, as he seeks out Spirits in order to charm them. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The sci-fi romance light novel, featuring illustrations by Tsunako, has been published under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label since March 2011. Fujimi Shobo will publish the 22nd and final volume on Thursday. Date A Live has a cumulative 6 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

AIC Plus+ produced the first anime season in Spring 2013. The second season by Production IMS premiered in 10 episodes the following Spring. The Date A Live: Mayuri Judgment anime film screened in Japan in August 2015. Date A Live III, the third and latest season by J.C.Staff, aired in Winter 2019.

Funimation licensed the anime series in North America and released the first two seasons on Blu-ray and DVD in June 2014 and March 2016, respectively. The third season will ship on home video on April 28.

A separate spin-off anime titled Date A Bullet is also in production, which was announced last September.

Thanks for the info also about that 16-19 with kurumi etc is there a chance they might skip some of that since we are getting a spinoff which focuses kurumi or are the stories different and doesnt tie into the main story ?
No problem! Ahh no need to worry about that, Date a Bullet is just a spin off LN and has nothing to do with the main story. And Kurumi's arc is really damn good in the main Date a Live novel so.. if there will be a 5th season after this 4th one, expect something really awesome to look forward to.

I see, really appreaciate all the info and hearing that its awesome makes me rly hyped up for it ^^ I kinda strongly believe we will get that adapted since they already went out of their way to adapt a side story for kurumi would be kinda dumb then to stop just befor entering her arc in main story >_<

@_MushiRock11_ Nope. Impossible, we need at least 2 more seasons of content tbh, if this show really wants to reach the end in anime format. 1st season adapted 4 volumes. 2nd season adapted from 5 to 7. Season 3 adapted from 8 to 11 while volume 12 was stupidly adapted in episode 12. Season 4 would adapt from 13 to 15 (Nia and Mukuro's Arcs). A season 5 probably from 16 to 19 (Kurumi and the spirit of origin arcs) and a 6th season from 20 to 22 concluding the story. So yeah xd there is still a lot left

@KurumiNightmare @thepath too, since you guys were wondering about it as well. Hope it helps!

Please keep the earlier trend (1 volume/3 episodes) Itsuka Disaster was a superb arc in the novel and they bastardized it, adapting it within 1 episode. The rest of the arcs are extremely heavy on the plot side, dealing with some of the best storytelling and one of the greatest villains I have seen in recent times. At least decent animation (Season 1) will do.

Finally, something to actually be optimistic about (provided it isn't JC Staff again). Hopefully the anime is able to finish the full story now, whether in this season or a potential season 5.

It's actually insane how many waifus are in this show. Not that I'm complaining :)
