A fifth anime season for Yuuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma) manga was announced at the Jump Festa 2020 event on Sunday. Subtitled Gou no Sara (The Fifth Plate), the new season will premiere in April 2020. The official website also opened a new page, revealing a key visual (pictured above). Staff and cast members from the fourth season will reprise their roles.

Tsukuda debuted the cooking manga featuring artworks by Saeki in Weekly Shounen Jump in November 2012. TV star and food researcher Yuki Morisaki collaborated with the creators, making dishes and recipes depicted in the series. After nearly a seven-year serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump, the series switched to Jump GIGA this June and ended after a three-chapter epilogue on August 29. Shueisha published the 36th and final volume on October 4. Shokugeki no Souma sold a cumulative 19 million copies of its compiled volumes.

J.C.Staff produced the first two anime seasons premiered in Spring 2015 and Summer 2016. The third season aired in two split cours in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. The 18th, 19th, 24th, 25th, and 29th manga volumes included five original video anime episodes, which served as side stories and bridges between seasons. The fourth and latest season, subtitled Shin no Sara, debuted on October 12 and will air the 12th and final episode on December 28.

Crunchyroll simulcast all three seasons with subtitles, and is currently streaming the fourth season. Sentai Filmworks released the first two seasons on Blu-ray and DVD in North America in August 2017 and February 2018. The third season will ship on home video on February 25, 2020.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in 2013 and simultaneously publishes new chapters with the Japanese release through its Shounen Jump service digitally. The 33th volume went on sale on December 3.

I would not be upset if they decide to take some liberties with the final arc haha.

Who would win?

Blue arc vs Game of Thrones Season 8.

Dec 22, 2019 12:07 AM by Papa_Scorch

Why are characters who don't appear this season on that visual?

Seriously I know they are only in the background but still they have no business being there reminding us of their pathetic non-importance.
