TV Anime 'Shin Chuuka Ichiban!' Reveals Cast for Fall 2019 Premiere

The official website for the previously announced Shin Chuuka Ichiban! TV anime adaptation revealed cast members, a new key visual, and promotional video on Monday. The anime will air on TBS and MBS on October 12, followed by BS-TBS on October 13.

Mao: Natsumi Fujiwara (Shounen Maid)
Meili: Ai Kayano (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)
Shirou: Yukiyo Fujii (Amagi Brilliant Park)
Shell: Yuuichi Nakamura (Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!)
Leon: Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama)
Fei: Junya Enoki (Kono Oto Tomare!)
Chou Yu: Yoshimitsu Shimoyama (Fairy Tail)
Luo: Shinpachi Tsuji (91 Days)
Shou An: Keiichi Nakagawa (Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2)
Shan: Yuuko Kaida (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0)

The opening song "Koufukuron," which is featured in the promotional video, will be performed by Qaijff, while the ending song "Paradigm Shift" will be performed by Brian the Sun.


Shin Chuuka Ichiban! is based on the sequel of Etsushi Ogawa's original 1995 cooking manga.

Itsurou Kawasaki (Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu) is directing the anime and handling the series composition at Nihon Ad Systems. Saki Hasegawa (Mahoutsukai no Yome animation director) is designing the characters, and Production I.G is credited for animation cooperation.

Oh shit. This is one thing I never expected to come back. Not sure how I feel about the color palette but I've seen worse with a lot of recent reboots. I remember watching the original series on TV back in the day so I'm eerily nostalgic about this. Hopefully they follow the manga more closely than the first adaptation.

I don't really like the color palette, looks like it's trying to imitate early digipaint but failing, making it look even worse. It just... hurts to look at.

This is anime adaptation of 1995 manga so of course the art style is really retro

Not too sure if this will be one that I’d personally like to watch, but the animation style of it looks good ^_^
