The special stage panel of Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (The Rising of the Shield Hero) at the Crunchyroll Expo convention announced both a second and third season for the anime series on Sunday. The official website also unveiled a new key visual (pictured above).

Voice actress Sarah Emi Bridcutt, opening theme performers MADKID, character designer and animator Masahiro Suwa, producer Junichirou Tamura, and music composer Kevin Penkin attended the panel.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari adapts Yusagi Aneko's adventure fantasy light novel of the same title, which originally launched on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2012. Kadokawa began publishing the novel with illustrations by Seira Minami the following August. The novel reached a cumulative circulation of 7.8 million copies with the release of the 22nd volume on June 25.

Kyu Aiya began serializing a manga adaptation in Comic Flapper in February 2014. Kadokawa shipped the 13th volume on April 23, with the 14th volume planned for a September 21 release.

The first anime season produced by Kinema Citrus aired in two cours between Winter and Summer 2019, covering the first five volumes and the beginning of the sixth volume. Crunchyroll—who participated in the anime's production committee—simulcast the show with subtitles. Funimation subsequently streamed an English dub.

One Peace Books licensed both the light novel and manga in English in 2015. The 13th light novel volume and the 11th manga volume shipped on December 18 last year and May 28, respectively.

The announced 2 more seasons but I doubt that any of them would be 24-episode long.
I don't know why they decided this but our shieldbro was not that popular in Japan.

It seems popular in China. Source is from Bilibili.

Assuming google translate is correct here, it seems to be the 2nd most viewed anime this year in China with 150 million viewership? Not sure about it's popularity in Crunchy Roll. I drop this anime at episode 8,maybe I should consider watch it again.

OMG All of these are my favorite shows like: Destroy the blade, Five-point bride and especially passers-by super 100 II (the second quater of...), not even mentioning night, miss Dae wants me to confess to the....

This is good news. Clearly it's doing well in Japan, or they wouldn't have greenlit two more seasons already. I can see why some people dislike the anime, but I think it's entertaining and has some good writing - well developed characters, touching moments, a lot of what makes good anime good. It's complex - touching on issues of power, servitude, the nature of heroism, and other aspects of human nature. And it doesn't offer easy answers. How Naofumi first takes on his henchmen like Raphtalia and Filo, for instance - complicated moral ground there, and Naofumi isn't a heroically moral character. This kind of seinen series isn't meant for the shounen crowd; it demands more of the audience: more maturity and thoughtfulness - certainly more (as evidenced in this discussion) than many anime fans are ready or willing to invest.

N.B.: One good sign that a reviewer has not put enough thought into their analysis is extremes of ratings or assertions. Ignore any review that asserts there is no value in a series, and any review that offers no criticisms. Chances are that the reviewer didn't give the show an honest, careful viewing, or that they are reacting (positively or negatively) to one specific aspect of the show that they gravitate to or recoil from.

In my opinion, TRotSH is worth a watch, and it's one of the best isekai series. I'm looking forward to seeing how they continue to develop the protagonists, particularly Naofumi, and continue to challenge the audience's thinking at the same time. (And yes ... I'm looking forward to the adorable and humorous elements, as well. That's part of the entertainment, imo.)

Exactly people need to stop taking other people opinion so literally and just ignore these fools and watch the series most of the time they miss out on golden series cause of these imbeciles
They should realize the ones that calls a series trash are either some fatsos with no life or an salty ass brat that didnt get it to go the way they wanted. As I always say if they got time to run their mouth they can get up and go try creating a series which will never happen since they lack the ability to even start
That aside I am so excited for season 2 the wait is killing me

Lol people call everything a harem where there are more than just 2 girls

"Hey that's the 3rd girl in the anime already, what a harem trash"

I mean it is a harem. Filo, Raphtalia, and Melty already love him. Pretty sure the green haired girl will as well.

Rishia? Nope, she already had her crush. And while Filo is important but to Nao, she is just like his own daughter, unlike Raph - the most important one to him

This show is about to become so freaking complicated tbh. I’ve only read certain parts past the anime and wikia and to see what the MC becomes to make everyone happy just seems like if they don’t spend hours explaining it no one under 100 iq will get it lol. But I can’t wait to see when he gets a new member to his harem

I hope that new member is finally Motoyasu to satisfy my nasty fujo fantasies allright

That’s gross lol he’s in love with being the M to Filos S when she kicked him in the nuts. But no it’s a women

Oof, I felt that one lmao. This thread has become grounds for war and I'm loving it.

That's what always happens when people talk about such a hated, yet loved anime, and usually I just lie back, and enjoying people arguing over nothing

But this time I just decided to take part in it, 'cause I hate people who believe they are better than others because of a certain taste in anime/anything.

Like that guy who claims to be so intelligent, yet shows no sign of the most basic quality that intelligent people can usually claim to have.

Basically the ability to accept changes and differences

I find it hard to believe he's such an intellectual, if he hates people who simply think different.

That's why you just ignore them. Most people on this site dislike those kind of people anyway.

Be careful next time, typos always lead to misunderstandings! :)

Hey guy, the fact you can't see why shield hero is insulting to your intelligence speaks volumes about you. You're out here trying to mock me for failing to comprehend the deep and intellectual show that is a fucking isekai with 3 lolis as the supporting cast, shut the hell up lmao.

So think you're smarter/ have higher IQ than certain people because you didn't like an anime they did

That definitely shows you have high intelligence, that's true *sarcasm*

If you're looking for deep meaning, valuable lessons that you could make a use of in real life too, or life changing events in every anime/ everything in life, then you'll never enjoy anything

What can't you put your ego away for a minute, and just simply accept that people have different tastes?

If you can't accept something as simple as that, then you are making it really difficult for anyone to believe you're an intelligent person

Or you can just keep hating everyone who thinks different than you and randomly insult people for loving something you don't. I couldn't care less TBH.

Bye.
