Publishing company North Stars Pictures opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Kei Ookubo's historical manga Arte on Friday. The main cast members and a teaser visual (pictured) have also been revealed.

The birthplace of the renaissance era, where art is thriving. In one small corner of this vast city, one sheltered girl's journey begins. She dreams of becoming an artist, an impossible career for a girl born into a noble family. In those days, art was an exclusively male profession, with woman facing strong discrimination. In spite of these challenges, Arte perseveres with hard work and a positive attitude! (Source: Media Do International)

Cast
Arte: Mikako Komatsu (Re:Creators)

Ookubo began serializing the manga in Monthy Comic Zenon in October 2013. Tokuma Shoten will publish the 11th volume on Saturday. Arte has a cumulative 750,000 copies of its compied volumes in circulation.

The manga was briefly published in English on the Silent Manga Audition website between August 2015 and December 2016. Media Do International licensed the series for digital release last October and published the third volume on Tuesday.

Arte ranked among the top 20 manga in the 2nd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in 2016—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico.

The new trailer looks great! Also, not only Katsuyuki Konishi but Enoki Junya now too?! This is AWESOME!!! Now, if they could squeeze Kenjirou Tsuda and Mamoru Miyano in there too, it would be perfect!!!!!

Oh, didn't know this. I read 10 chapters long ago and quite liked it. Glad it receives an anime adaptation

I've been seeing a ton of people making manga recommendations with this title.
The synopsis for it on MAL sounded interesting, but now that an anime's been announced (key visual there doesn't look half bad either), I might actually give this a try.

In high school, I ended up having to read a lot of novels around female artists and I did like them somewhat, so part of my interest for this manga in the first place kinda came from that.

Been wanting to read the manga forever, this might make me get into the series finally.

Never expected this to get an anime. Haven't read that much of the manga, but liked what I have.

Instant plan to watch. This manga has always seemed interesting to me. So an adaptation is nice. Hope it ends up being good.
