Story writer Rifujin na Magonote announced via his Twitter account that an anime adaptation for his Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu light novel series has been decided. More information will be revealed later.

Synopsis
Killed while saving a stranger from a traffic collision, a 34-year-old NEET is reincarnated into a world of magic as Rudeus Greyrat, a newborn baby. With knowledge, experience, and regrets from his previous life retained, Rudeus vows to lead a fulfilling life and not repeat his past mistakes.

Now gifted with a tremendous amount of magical power as well as the mind of a grown adult, Rudeus is seen as a genius in the making by his new parents. Soon, he finds himself studying under powerful warriors, such as his swordsman father and a mage named Roxy Migurdia—all in order to hone his apparent talents. But despite his innocent exterior, Rudeus is still a perverted otaku, who uses his wealth of knowledge to make moves on women whom he could never make in his previous life. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Rifujin na Magonote wrote the light novel series via Shousetsuka ni Narou website from November 2012 to April 2015. Kadokawa has released the light novel series under the Media Factory imprint with art by Sirotaka since January 2014, and 20 volumes have been released as of January 25. It made repeated appearances on the site's rankings as the most popular work during its serialization. A manga version, drawn by Yuka Fujikawa, has been serialized via Comic Flapper magazine since the June 2014 issue. MF Comic Flapper series imprint will release the 10th compiled volume on March 23. The Roxy spin-off manga series, drawn by Shouko Iwami, started its serialization via ComicWalker in December 2017, and two physical volumes have been released as of last September. Kadokawa also released a 4-koma manga of the series via Comic Dengeki Daiouji since last October. A drama CD was released last April, featuring Hiro Shimono as Rudeus.

Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the light novels in English. The first physical volume is set to ship on May 21 with an early digital release on April 4. Seven Seas Entertainment has also been publishing the manga adaptation of the novel since 2015. Its ninth volume is scheduled to be released on August 20, while the English physical volume release of the Roxy spin-off manga will debut on April 30.

I HATE fanservice and general harem shows so much that I usually end up cringing.
I typically avoid LNs with male MCs because of that.

that said, Mushoku Tensei was one heck of a read, the first 9 volumes was quite good, but after that, it got so bad that I had trouble focusing on school or getting enough sleep because I couldn't put down that damn phone.
At every moment my mind was on what happens next, I had to stop myself around vol 18
or something, because of exams coming up the next month.

I'm looking forward to the official LN gettin to that part, then I'll binge everything
again.

I'm looking forward to the anime, but for the love of Gogmazios, adapt the whole thing!

I'm a little late from this post but I would like to share my thoughts on this story, First of all I would like to state that I've read the web novel from beggining to end. To those who doesn't understand reincarnation it means you died and you were reborn again as a baby, a 15 years old with the mind of an 34y/old is still a 15 years old wouldn't it be weird if you died in your 90s then you reincarnated again as a baby with your memories intact according to some of your logic in the comments when you turn 15 y/old with a mind of a 90y/old unless you fall in love with an 105 y/old woman then your a pedophile which is ludicrous, those who haven't read the entire story from beggining to end like I have are using out of context information from God knows where and is misleading potential readers like blind sheeps. The MC didn't fuck his cousin because hes a pedophile that likes committing incest infact he didn't even know they were related until it was too late in the story when she's already pregnant there is more context but I won't go into detail to spoil more than I already have. The relationships on this novel are not cheap there is a harem i admit and normally i hate brainless harems in isekai or not but this novel is the only exception, this story is about a useless adult who wanted to change his past self he was given a second when he reincarnated as a baby honestly I feel that this story is more of a drama if anything else , this story is complex and is something that is worth your time reading this story is not your typical isekai it's not really about the hero nor the demon lords they exist in the world true but the main focus of this story is really about a man that is desperately trying to protect his family this is one of those story that can be controversial because of the themes but I gurantee that the story is well made and it has a great ending so please read it first properly up to the parts that made you not want to or watch it, too bad they took out the chapters on webnovel. My favorite quote from this book is ,(" Welcome, to the highest point in your life." -Rudeus Greyrat). I can't wait to see it on the adaptation if it ever reaches that far. To whoever's reading this up to this point ty for listening to my thoughts on this novel that I feel very passionate about.

What if you're in this situation and you get reincarnated as a baby in this new world. I guess you'll avoid any romantic relation with anyone below your actual age? If so, then the only option for you are those that are 40+ (Including the one that he stole the panties from (Yes, she's actually around the same age as Rudeus's true age and has a complex about it)). You would refuse the advances of a 200+ years old (very sexy) elf aswel, because that would be reverse pedo (Rudeus actually doesn't do her, but you know what I mean).

You actually got it wrong with the incest one, he didn't fuck her, she fucked him. She initiated it and he was making double sure that she wanted it and told her he couldn't hold back if she continued. Still incest but it's normal in that world (Besides, if Rudeus wasn't there, she would end up with an other cousin).

I'll be honest, I also dislike Polygamy anime (Even more if he just can't decide), but that's because it just feels forced and unrealistic. What Mushoku Tensei does is making sure we know those characters and give it time to develop those feelings. Then have them seperated and meet again later on.

About the cheating part, yes it was dispiciable even though it was forced upon him (for a very good reason). But he took resposibility on it and confessed to his wife, fully aware it could end up in a divorce.

It's fine if you don't want to watch/read it, but don't try to keep others away from it, just because you don't like it or hate some elements of the story (That's actually being adressed in the story).

Dude THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking your time to argue with this... person.
I also tried my best (hope you read my arguments) to convince him that all the things he heard (he didn't even read the story) were heavily biased.
In the end I gave up and tried instead to make him not spoke in that manners about the story, just because he hated it.

I also took your arguments in consideration and built some more arguments and facts around it to support it, while trying to avoid spoiling the story too much.
While he has some valid arguments, since those things does happen, it's unfair to spread the hate without actually reading the story and read the situation of when it happens.
I can totally understand the hate of him stealing those panties, tho. But don't worry, Karma will make sure the same thing happens to him someday (Novel readers will know what I mean).

I just hope that this serie will have the hype it deserves.

I am not gonna read this novel because I know I'll hate it.

The thing that is most important for me in an anime/manga/novel is the MC. I can't enjoy an anime if I dislike/hate the MC. The biggest reason because I am not gonna read this is because the MC is a pedo.

I hate Pedofilies. They disgust me. There is nothing I hate more. I am not gonna read a manga about a 40+ man who lust after 7 year old girls and steals their panties. I can't believe that people are alright with the MC being a pedo. Just because you can fuck a 15 year old in the world that you transferred too, doesn't make it ok. People don't fuck kids because that's disgusting and the right thing to do, not because the law prevents them from doing it. Your even saying that it is ok because she looks old. Dude, I don't know if you know this, but it is not okay for a 40+ year old man to fuck a 15 year old even if she looks older than she is.

When I said there was incest, I meant the relationship between the MC and his cousin. A lot of people don't consider that as incest, but I do.

I hate polgamy, But I am ok with it if I like the MC. As you might have already guessed, I don't like the MC.

It doesn't matter if he was practically forced to cheat on his wife. It is still cheating. Your just making a lot of excuses. Your even trying to defend the MC for being a pedo.

I don't know how a 40+ year old man who steals panties from 7 year old girls and fucks a 15 year old girl can redeem himself.

I don't care if it has a message behind. If I want to read something with a message behind it, I will read something where I don't hate 95% of the story.

Oh god no. I remember reading this. It's like the most self-indulging self-insert wish-fulfillment power fantasy. So many strange writing choices and unnecessary plot developments. So much sheer nonsense and stupidity. It's like written by a chuunibyou middle schooler.

The worst thing about it though is the main character, honestly one of the most disgusting pieces of shit I've ever seen. Not sure if it's the worst thing I read but it's definitely up there. I'll pass on this one I guess.

First and foremost, you are terribly wrong, and that's just for letting other people's interpretations affect your critical judgement. Say it's bad AFTER you have read even 1 volume. Yes, you can decide not to read just because it has things you hate, but by not doing it you're missing the full context of almost everything:

Yes, MC is a pedo, and yes, he fucks her cousin. But she is not underage, she is 15, an that's not considered as "underaged" in that world, and believe me she does't look like your average loli, hell at 15 she's even more well endowed than many matured womans. Again, yes, that would sound you like an excuse, but if you say that, it's like you're closing off your eyes of reading, refusing to even try to comprehend the circumstances, a thing almost obligued to enjoy a story.

There is NO INCEST in any inch of the story, at least on MC's part, and if it happens anytime is labeled as BAD. MC is perverted to no ends, but he NEVER lays a finger on his sisters, mother, or woman beside his wifes.

There is polygamy... Does that bother you to the point of not reading the story? Or you prefer other harem stories that never establish a fucking satisfying conclusion? Yes, it's wish fulfillment, but also it's a harem, and I prefer ten times polygamy over the bullshit of "can't decide one of the girls", which is even more irritating imo.

Yes he technically cheats on his wife once, but the way you say it, together with all the criticism you have been raising against the novel, makes it look like you see him like a piece of trash at the moment of comitting the act, when in reality it was practically forced on him.

Rudeus is a piece of trash indeed, but only at the beginning at the story, Mushoku Tensei is all about redeeming himself into a responsible, psychologically matured person.

If you're going to critique this work in any aspect, please read it first and critique the things that you didn't like AND you read about, not the ones you haven't.

Don't skip it because you hate wish fulfillment stories, because for the last time, yes, it is pure wish fulfillment, but also there is a message behind it all.

Ok, this is the last time you'll hear my excuses.

When you say you hate 95 % of the story are you referring to the part you read? Because all the pedo stuff doesn't go beyond 30 % of the full story, just until volume 5 (of 24) I think I'm screwing up the maths, but maybe you get my point here.

I'm making those "excuses" because as I said, it's necesary to enjoy the story. And just because I enjoy this work (let's say it's one of my favorite novels ever), doesn't mean I support pedophiles in the REAL world. I despise them much as you do.

Yes in the end cheating is cheating, but you're trying to force a radical mindset of "it's bad whatever the context" when the context DOES matter, and that is wrong.

I also do not relate the words cousins/incest, but that depends of each one.

Soooo why do you hate polygamy? Is it established that polygamy is like slavery when a man can take any woman regardless of her will, like in some places of the real world? Here again you're forcing your own mindset. But the real baffling thing is when you later say it's ok if you like the MC...? Ooookay, logic not found here, but whatever...

I'm defending the MC not for being a pedo, but because his evolution as a character is incredible, and as I've read 100% of the story, can tell you so. Also because it takes a very pessimistic view of humanity to say someone who "steals panties from 7 year old girls" can't redeem himself, when he NEVER HARMS anyone. Dude even people who literally KILL other person can be redeemed, because again, the context matters. It's not the same when someone kills a person full intended or by accident... And here you're saying because MC "fucks a 15 year old girl" ignoring that she thinks like an adult person and was even more willing to do it, can't be redeemed...? For fucks sake...

I know Rudeus is the biggest problem everyone has when starting this novel, but I can't stand most of them being people like you who can't diferentiate the line of reality and fiction, because in the end, this is a work of FICTION, and if you're not capable of knowing the diference, you'll not enjoy 70% of anime/manga/LNnovels, because the entire otaku media revolve around these things, you like them or not.

Just because I said all of this doesn't mean I can't get behind any potential reason making you decide to not read the novel. I could accept them, it's your opinion after all, but what truly bothers me to no end, is someone who spread false and biased accusations after letting his judgment be carried away by others.

There, moving on.

I was gonna read the LN, but I'm gonna skip this because I've heard a lot of bad things.

Minor spoilers:

-MC is a pedo. MC is 40+ years old in the body of a little boy and he is lusting after other little kids ( I think the girls were 7 years old or even smaller). When he is 13 he even fucks his cousin who is underage.

-MC is a big pervert. He gets aroused the moment he sees a little skin, and he’s always trying to peek on girls (MC is like 40+ and the girls 10-15), or steal their unwashed panties.

-There is incest (I hate incest)

-MC cheats on his wife ( I hate people who cheat on their loved ones)

-There is polygamy (Polygamy is when you marry more than 1 woman). I hate MC who can't just choose 1 wife. It can't be that hard to just fuck 1 girl

Mushoku Tensei is pure wish fulfilment. I hate those kind of storys.

So much valid reasons to avoid this piece of shit

This was one of the first Isekai LN I read back when the Isekai craze was kicking off in 2014 and out of all the Isekai I read and watched over the years nothing comes close to Mushoku Tensei. I hope it's at least 2 Cours. I really hope they don't mess this up.

Just the pinnacle of isekai LN, so meh, I'm not hyped at all.

I see the community is divided between people who hasn't read the LN, and people who has. That's good, because it will either be a good adaptation that converts haters to cultists, or be a shit adaptation that will be spitted upon by readers and non-readers alike.
