Manga 'Hunter x Hunter' Enters Hiatus
Hunter x Hunter began in March 1998 and has had many hiatuses. The last hiatus was this past April, and the series resumed on September 22. The 36th compiled volume was released on October 4 and sold 498,226 copies the first week. The manga also received two different anime versions: one by Nippon Animation in 1999 and another by Madhouse in 2011.

No HxH this week ;_;
I'm hoping this hiatus won't last too long but it's becoming a meme now at this point. Got a feeling I'll never be able to finish this manga or Berserk
It's been a meme for years.
HxH still has a chance of being completed even with 10 chapters a year, Berserk is a lost cause at this point. A shame the greatest manga ever might go unfinished.

*sigh* I'm tired of repeating myself, so this will be the last time I repeat myself:
1. You first replied to Aquamarine that the HxH not being cancelled yet was a testament to how good a writer Togashi is and that JUMP, realising this, allows for his haituses so as to not lose his talent.
2. I replied to this by saying that it I believed it was more due to the fact that (and pay attention to how I phrase this) "with Naruto gone, it's now their only other series (One Piece excepted) that tends to break a million copies per volume." Note that I am not saying that JUMP is allowing the haituses purely because Naruto has ended, but rather that JUMP has less of an incentive to cancel it now that they've lost one of their biggest money makers.
3. The reason I mentioned Bleach was to use an example of how much JUMP cares about sales. Bleach, like HxH, was one of their biggest series, yet was cancelled because of declining sales and ratings. I wasn't trying to bring Bleach into this "argument", but was trying to use it as an example to help prove the point I was making.
4. The reason I was bringing reputation is because it summarises ability to sell a product, part of which is his talent as a story writer. Nothing more, nothing less.
5. As for not providing any "proof", you kind of did that for me. My point, from my first reply, has been that HxH sells a lot, so JUMP allows for the hiatuses. I really do think you need to read my first reply to you, because I'm pretty sure you've misread it.
Now, if you still don't understand what I'm saying here, I'm done because we'll just end up repeating the same goddamn stuff over and over again.

I don't care about your "Pretty sure" or "feelings" about the matter. Argue with facts alone. You brought up Naruto, not me, so if you want to persist w/the argument that HxH not getting canceled is somehow related to Naruto ending in anyway, even tho the hiatus has been going on more than a decade before that, the least you could do is provide some evidence to back up your claim that there's a connection. I provided some data to support my statements in the previous comments while you've provided none so far & are simply arguing based on opinion.
Also why do you keep arguing to me about JUMP caring about reputation? This is the 3rd thing you brought up which I never said in my first comment. When I said Jump recognized his talents/storytelling, I was talking about Togashi's ability to create not just 1, but several successful series. So if you gonna quote me, then quote me on things I've actually said. Maybe learn to read next time.

If they really cared so much about the reputation of their series and writers, they would not have canned Bleach the way they did.
First you say HxH was allowed to go on hiatus bec Naruto ended. Since you were wrong, now you change your argument and bring Bleach into it. -_-
That' not what I meant. I meant that since Naruto has ended, JUMP's million copy sellers have come down to just 2, One Piece and Hunter x Hunter. I meant that Naruto ending gave JUMP even more of a reason to not cancel it. Hell, this is what I said:
Pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that with Naruto gone, it's now their only other series (One Piece excepted) that tends to break a million copies per volume.
Maybe don't ignore the entire reply next time.
I never mentioned Bleach in my original comment, so if you want to bring it into the conversation, the least you could do is provide some proof bec comparing it to HxH doesn't even make sense. Bleach's volume sales have been steadily declining for years. It's been surpassed in sales by newer Jump titles like Haikyuu, Hero Academia and AssClass. Last Bleach volume was released in November 2016, yet its nowhere in the top of the Yearly Volume Sales list for 2016 or for 2017. The same can't be said about Hunter x Hunter which is still topping yearly volume sales despite the constant hiatuses.
Bleach was an example. An example I gave to show that JUMP cares jack shit about the reputation of the series or author. Only the money it made mattered.

Pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that with Naruto gone.
If that is the reason then explain how Togashi was able to start going on hiatus since 1998 even though Naruto manga ended only in 2014.
Even with Naruto, it would still have been only their third million copy seller. No one in their right mind is gonna cancel such a series. The reason I said with Naruto gone is because without Naruto, JUMP now only has one, potentially two, series that passes a million copies per volume, that being One Piece and, potentially, Hunter x Hunter. You don't kill a chicken that lays golden eggs even if it stops laying eggs for a while, especially not when you only have 2 left.
If they really cared so much about the reputation of their series and writers, they would not have canned Bleach the way they did.

I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been canceled yet.
That's how good of a storyteller Togashi is. Shounen Jump recognizes his talents so they let him publish at his own pace rather than risk losing him.
