TBF all three are bunkobon and they're still pretty cheap (600 to 850 yen afaik).
Honzuki is in shinsho so the price is higher by easily 400 yen in average for that format to begin with. So when they abuse on top of this by putting it at 1k2 for less than 300 pages, it hurts.
NisiOisiN is often published with kodansha box and kodansha box are freaking rip off indeed.
Here is the comparison: Bunkobon and Yen Press size comparison
I wish we have all the LN's in Bunkobon format, I love small format books!(I mean look at Arifureta book it is big as hell, it's not even comfortable to hold it while reading in any position, except if it's on the table or so). *Edit: Yōjo Senki and Overlord books are huge also.
Also, in the recent podcast, J-Novel Club owner Sam Pinansky said that even Japan now moving from small format to a bigger one...sigh
Yeah I've listened to that podcast. it's not really moving that much tbh, it's relative. There was barely any and now there's more, mainly because several titles in those shinsho format editions were very succesful so more money = more books released by those editions.
Youjo Senki and Overlord being two shinsho release part of that current success btw; since those two are big even in japan (and therefore cost between 1k and 1k4 yens depending of the size).
it's not a rip off in that case tho, the number of page is good.
What I was complaining about the gaiden from honzuki above is that they published a volume quite a bit shorter than usual but didn't lower the pricetag at all.
Aye english releases are another problem I'm afraid. There are not enough peoples buying to really rentabilise the purchase of each license with low price volumes.
Bunkobon is nice but I actually enjoy Shinsho format as well, it's not as easy to carry around, but it's nicer to read so it's especially satisfying when it's some of your favourite series.

Yeah, the prices are ridiculous, take Arifureta vs DanMachi or laughable thickness of KonoSuba (for example), but they cost the same (freaking bureaucrats). I'm tired of this, going to switch to digital format soon enough.

Technically the name is even longer than that :
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen~ Kizokuin Gaiden Ichinensei
The release date is listed as being the 10/10 yet it's making it in the top 30 list of 10/1 to 10/7 week lolmao. <3
I'm definitely buying it, although the price is clearly abusive for this one. It's less than 300 pages for 1,2k yen, they're abusing the franchise's popularity with this gaiden's price and that's not cool.
So I'm still buying because the writing and characters are awesome (And TO books knows we're still going to buy it, sigh); but hoping that overpricing stuff won't happen again.

It would be good if there is a second season for Classroom of the Elite …
I would rather have a reboot than a S2 tbh if the fact that the anime deviated a lot from the LN is true. Not sure how they're gonna continue into S2 if that's the case.

In our (J-Novel Club)'s print releases, we'll be sticking to 182x128mm shinsho format (actually a tiny bit shorter, it's Japanese B6 size), and we'll use a light, higher quality paper so ~300 pages will be around 14 mm spine width. They are designed to be easily holdable in one hand since I also think the English releases are just too damn big.
Going down to Bunkou sized just doesn't work for english text I'm afraid. You end up with books that are too thick IMO or font that's a little too small.
