'Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka' Manga Gets TV Anime

An official website opened for a TV anime adaptation of Makoto Fukami and Seigo Tokiya's Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka (Magical Girl Special Ops Asuka) manga on Saturday. The titular character Asuka Ootorii will be voiced by Aya Suzaki (Kill la Kill). The anime will premiere in January 2019.

Synopsis
When the Earth is threatened by the sudden appearance of undead creatures, a group of young women blessed with powers from a mysterious source rose to defeat them. Now, after three years of apparent peace, the same malevolent creatures have resurfaced. Five magical girls are once again conscripted to war as the Magical Girl Special Ops force, to defend mankind from an unholy nemesis. (Source: Seven Seas Entertainment)

Fukami launched the magic action manga with Naoya Tamura collaborating on the military setting and illustrations by Tokiya, which has been serialized in Big Gangan magazine since June 2015. Square Enix published the seventh volume on March 24, with the eighth volume scheduled for a July 25 release. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in North America, and plans to publish the third compiled volume on July 31.
