Original Anime 'Chikyuugai Shounen Shoujo' Announced

An original anime titled Chikyuugai Shounen Shoujo (Extraterrestrial Boys and Girls) was announced at this year's Anime Central convention on Saturday. Mitsuo Iso will pen and direct the sci-fi series at Signal.MD with character designs by Kenichi Yoshida (Eureka Seven). This project marks Iso's directorial work in a new anime since Dennou Coil 11 years ago.

Synopsis
In the year 2045, Internet and artificial intelligence have become widespread in the outer space. Following a massive accident at a space station, a group of children are left behind. Using narrowband and SNS, low intelligence AI, and smartphone-controlled drones, they overcome numerous crises.

Iso created and directed Dennou Coil at Madhouse in 2007, which won an Excellence Prize at the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival and the 7th Tokyo Anime Awards in the TV animation category, the 39th Seiun Award in the media division, and the 29th Japan SF Awards. Iso himself won the Individual Award for the work at the 13th Animation Kobe Awards in 2008.

Per everything he said at the panel and the pictures he shared of the characters, it's not mecha.

Awesome looking space station and characters tho, the pink haired girl looks especially cute.

Interesting to hear that Mitsuo Iso is back with an anime project. Hopefully we get more info later this year. I smell potential.

Latched on to this immediately because of the character designer. Based on the cover art, it reminds me of Planetes.

Haven't completed it yet,but Dennou Coil is great so far,looking forward to this new project.

One a different note,I'm a bit irritated that some people always have to throw in some random stuff à la,please not like Darling in the FranXX, just to show how much they disapprove of something.

I have to yet finish Dennou Coil but from what I've watched it was trippy as fuck. But it was some good stuff too, looking forward to this tbh.

This sounds really interesting, very similar to one of my favorite 90 anime infinite ryvius but they will probably go for very different things so no real point in comparing them much.

I'm so excited! Dennou Coil was great. I don't know about the studio or character designer, but I trust Mistuo Iso. Can't wait for a PV to drop.
