Yeah that's th simplified version.
Anime industry have always been like that.
Unless it's very very popular.
LN adaptation tends to have only 1 adaptation.
Manga otherwise have more like Tokyo Ghoul you mentioned, Manga have more revenue and gains compared boosting LN sales.
Which is why some producers prefer risking newers isekai trends than the old anime.
Overlord case are abnormal though it was pretty popular and still far from conclusion.
While researching the anime industry information and discussion last year it has come to conclusion the adaptation mostly will still depends on BD/DVD sale, and less likely to depends on source material sale especially on LN case, once it less likely to meet their expectations, hitting on 2nd season will be less than 1% within years let alone a full adaptation.
Some notable producers and studio will likely to have more adaptation despite the avg sales or mediocre reception (majority of J.C staff anime since they adapt 3-4 anime each season, KyoAni which almost never be bothered by any reception).
If you noticed it on monthly or weekly sale , some old adapted anime rarely shows up there.
Sure Mahouka was popular but it was still affected by Movie boost.
I would like to see another season but Thinking it would end as a cliffhangers.. nah fk it.
Looooool now I totally lost the last grimmer of hope...
I have never had any problem with incomplete adaptations because I like reading manga as well
But here is the Problem after I finished mahouka anime I tried reading the visual novel but I didn't like reading it
It's like reading books and I'm not into books that much
However I want to complete mahouka so badly and I don't know what to do
Hoped it was a manga not a LN....
there's a manga adaptation if I'm not mistaken, you can read that, each arc has its own manga series and different title so don't get confused. There's manga adaptation from vol 1 to vol 15 or 16, the anime ended at vol 7 and they skipped vol 5 (the summer holiday arc)
here's the order
the manga is still ongoing, I don't know about how many of them have been translated, you do the work if you're invested.

You want to say that there is no need for them to make another season because the light novel is selling well itself and in its climax right ???

Nah leave it,
You shouldn't put hope for something that already heading towards climax,
Tokyo ghoul announced when it's still on going before the recent climax announcements.
Danmachi is still on going, it's a good reason why they avoid 2nd season due the lacks of source material during it was airing, you can't expect them to adapt the more when the source and adaptation are too close to each other, and the reason are simple. Advertising.
But again they're held by a better and promising studio + producer.
Even it happens.. that probably the last of it to boost the final arc lol.

I haven't lost hope yet ...
Have you ever thought of a third season of tokyo ghoul after what they have done with route A !!!!!!
And Dan machi recently received a second season too
I don't see a reason why there won't be another season of mahouka...
It doesn't make sense actually....
Even index is getting a sequel after so many years...

Meanwhile Death March hit badly by the anime adaptation.
Care to elaborate? The two previous volumes sold close to 28K before dropping from the rankings after 2 weeks. I think it'd be safe to say this one will reach those numbers on next week's ranking and fall off like its predecessors. I don't see how it got "hit badly" by the anime...
Well based on its standard, 28k seems like a boost.
Meanwhile to be popular shit you'll need about 40k to 50k copies.
And the anime adaptation is just mediocre at best.
"It's not your typical Isekai".
Right.

@Kuuderes_shadow did Overlord really surpass Mahouka? I believe they only sold more in 2016 and Mahouka sells better per volume too.
I was talking on a volume basis - Mahouka sells more in total because it has volumes coming out faster.
Mahouka 23 sold 158555 in 39 days, Overlord 12 had sold 165064 after 37 days.
Doubtless this second anime for Overlord will have widened the gap.

>It should be "Takarajima"
"did Overlord really surpass Mahouka? I believe they only sold more in 2016 and Mahouka sells better per volume too."
>Overall? Not. Mahouka has a 8kk stand, the only one above it is DanMachi with 9kk. Overlord sold 4.8kk overall and TenSura just announced a 4.5kk.

Well it seems that an irregular managed to take the top spot...
(Also I didn't know a new volume of Death March came out).
Irregular are heading towards climax,
Meanwhile Death March hit badly by the anime adaptation.
Well not that i care, isekai with such execution was meant to be doomed to begin with.

Well, then I was right that there will be at least 3-4 volumes and pair of arcs. But the only thing that upsets me is that the anime, even with the film, could not show the entire first year.
