An official website has opened for a TV anime adaptation of Takeshi Hinata's Ahiru no Sora manga on Wednesday. Main staff members for the anime series have also been revealed, as well as a key visual (pictured).

Synopsis
A stout, weak, yet highly passionate Sora Kurumatani enters Kuzuryuu High School with hopes that he'll fulfill his mother's wishes to dominate his first high school tournament. However, the basketball club—turned den for delinquents—does anything but play basketball! Its club members, Momoharu Hanazono, a skilled blocker who can do power jumps but is horrible at shooting, and his twin brother Chiaki, a talented point guard, has also lost interest in the sport. With just one game overwhelmed with adrenaline rush and excitement, and Sora's pure love for the game, the youth's burning out spirit for basketball rekindles.

Staff
Chief Director: Keizou Kusakawa (Asura Cryin')
Director: Shingo Tamaki (Aho Girl)
Series Composition: Gou Zappa (Blend S)
Character Design: Yoshino Honda (Fuuka)

The sports manga has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine since December 2003. The series has over 24 million copies of its 48 compiled volumes in circulation, with the 49th volume scheduled to be published on March 16.

oh my god omg omg hasn't checked any anime news in a while and i just saw this, omg this news made my day! Been waiting for ahiru no sora anime adaptation for a long, long time, it's my favorite basketball manga as a person who plays basketball and watch the nba! Hope the anime is gonna do justice to the moves they gonna pull, there's a lot of street moves.. KnB had those wack angles or animations for movement coordination where it just didn't capture the beauty of the sports, or the move.

This is also good to bring attention to the series and hopefully some scanlation group is gonna pick the manga up and actually translate the 300+ raw chapters that's out right now.

Lots of older stuff getting adaptation. And the well has been pretty dry for sport anime. However I don't know how to feel about more basketball.

Also seems like the wrong studio altogether picked this up?? But maybe they're trying something new....we shall see.

It's from 2003. Maybe cause it's getting adaptated in a time where people have seen so many sports anime in recent years. JUst give it a chance. Personally I've never read the manga, so who knows how it'll turn? It sold 24 million copies. Must be good I guess.

Diomedea is a good studio, doesn't deserve the hate, probably because of Mayoiga.
People took that show too seriously lol. It was 2016 its time move on.

Actually it wasn't because of Mayoiga.

They're infamous for well... making other series a lot of people didn't actually liked.

The one recently being Beatless (even then I think Beatless is fine).

They're more of a hit-miss studio.
Yeah the only show from Diomedea that i didn't like was Fuuka. I liked Girlish Number, Handa-kun and Aho girl.

And yes Beatless is okay. Nothing amazing or groundbreaking but also nothing bad either in my opinion.

But Diomedea ? :@

Wow. It took over 14 years for this to get an anime? And that's while the manga is still ongoing. What took so long, lol. I think it has over 700 chapters at this point.

>be me
>awaiting spring 2016
>had an eye on a certain show for weeks
>mayoiga, by diomedea
>hyped it for days
>finally arrived, excited
>fast forward, twelve weeks later
>turns out the crappiest, cringiest, eye-burning piece of trash ever
>ever since that day been avoiding diomedea like a plague

I'll watch it if it gets good reviews after a few weeks of airing, though.
