After checking animate Times article, I realized that it's not "ad lib".

Also it says the seiyuus will show their performance as "Geinin" (comedians).

Do they animate first and then have VAs ad lib the lines in, or do they just have VAs stand around and say random stuff and animate it later?

Interesting concept. "Reality" anime, haha. Or following the trend of Youtube? Or just cheap? Or all of the above?

No script for part of the episode so they gotta make it all up on the spot. Cast chemistry is key.

I'm with everyone else on this, this is a thing? If so, got any good recommendations, cause ad libbed anime sounds like a pretty fun time.
Well from what I've seen there's Tesagure Bukatsumono, Straight Title Robot Anime, and Naria Girls. Haven't seen gdgd Fairies, but I think it's the same. Minarai Diva possibly too, but that has no subs. I'd recommend giving them all a try, except Naria Girls unless you're desperate for more. If you're only gonna try one though than go for Tesagure since that showcases the style the best.

I enjoy these way too much. I have faith in this line-up of comedians!

Naria girls is almost completely ad-libbed (seiyuus receive a theme and then start improvise) and movement of the characters is modelled after seiyuus. Do note, however, that because of it it looks very bad and sometimes it ends up being very cringeworthy.

I can only think of Tesagure Bukatsumono, well for the most part, the clubroom segment was mostly ad libbed.
