The official Twitter for the ballpoint pen writing image character Nippen no Miko-chan has announced that it will receive an anime CM series, which will be broadcast within the news discussion show 5-ji ni Muchuu on Tokyo MX starting January 8, 2018. Koutarou Ishidate (Tesagure! Bukatsumono) will direct the series.

Miko-chan: Aya Hirano (the Fairy Tail series)
Nyanko: Tomokazu Sugita (the Gintama series)

Nippen no Miko-chan is an image character used in lectures of the Japan Pen Writing Study Organization since 1972. The organization has been teaching people to write with ballpoint pens with help of the 9-koma manga featuring her. There are various mangaka involving in drawing the 9-koma manga, and Shouta Hattori has been in charge since earlier this year.

If this i going to be a trend, then at least have Sanrio put out some high budget shorts of some of their cuter and lesser known characters (or 12 episodes of 5-7 minute Criticrista shorts, I'd buy that).

I have mixed thoughts but I will watch it for the design and Hirano Aya. I wonder what are the genres for this.
