and Made in Abyss might have that Madoka Magica effect where it sells 70k on the first week...
I don't think Made in Abyss is going to have the Madoka Magica effect. It is way less popular. I am actually kind of worry if it will sell well since it's a Manga adaptation. I will take anything above 5K.

So much for Classroom of the Elite and Smartphone. I thought those types of anime were supposed to be "in" for Japan...
Kakegurui releases on the 13th of this month, so next week I'll be looking forward to how much it sold...

Sad to see Youkoso Jitsuryoku, Isekai wa Smartphone , and Tsugumomo not doing well. I liked these anime
At least Princes Principal sales look good
Because the whole bloody plot was ruined in youkoso jitsuryoku, so much so many(including me) cancelled their pre-orders.
It should have been lower honestly.

Ouch. Welp this is what happens when you pissed off the fans of the original source material. XD

I'm glad that Princess Principal sells little bit even now.

I remembered reading the manga a few months ago and was like "damn, this got dark and really good", but shame we won't be able to see it get animated.

Conan selling well and tenshi no 3p with 1.9K ( season 2 when?)

The novels sold a lot so it did its job.
A part of its job that is. While it boosted the numbers of the source material it fails to deliver in BD/DVD sales meaning the company within the production committee that planned to profit on that will most likely walk out with a loss. We have yet to see how the other income streams and with that the other 7 companies do but it's too early to say if it has done its job or not as an anime adaptation overall.

I found it weird because Youkoso Jitsu was pretty hyped and welcomed during the time it was Airing.
Smartphone likely due too much critic and the story being generic despite having alot of watchers.
Meanwhile Princess Principal that have less watchers compared both two (or three since i didnt watch Tsugumomo) had better sales summary (about 6200 copies sold according to list).
How popular an anime is in the west is pretty irrelevant to disc sales.

Sad to see Youkoso Jitsuryoku, Isekai wa Smartphone , and Tsugumomo not doing well. I liked these anime
I steered clear of Smartphone's anime the moment I learned it was adapting the first 3 novels in only 12 episodes. As I thought the first book alone had enough content for ~10 episodes...
At least the source material got a nice sales boost, so I'm happy about that.

Dragon ball super is not looking so good...
its airing on morning time slot so its profit comes more from TV ratings (more TV ads revenue) and merchandise sales like toys for kids
