'Macross Δ Movie' to Premiere in February 2018

The Shunkan Kanzen Nenshou! (Instant Complete Burn!) Macross Δ Movie Announcement event held on Monday has announced details for the previously announced movie. Titled Gekijou no Walküre (Passionate Walkure), the movie will premiere on February 9, 2018. It will recap scenes from the TV series with improved battle scenes, and will feature a new story. The movie will also include new songs from Walküre, and the unit will have their third live on February 24 and 25, 2018.

The Macross sci-fi mecha franchise is set after 1999, in an alternate history of earth and humanity. The franchise spawned four TV anime, six OVA series, six movies, and several light novel and manga adaptations. The latest adaptation, Macross Δ, aired in Spring 2016 as a 26-episode TV anime series by studio Satelight. Additionally, it has been previously announced that a new TV series is in production for 2018.

Every mainline Macross has had a movie version. Why is this so surprising?

February 9...which means we might not get the subs until August...Satelight is working on Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens for Winter 2018, and they're working on the new Macross series at the same time which will air probably in the Summer or Fall...most likely Fall...I don't really know what to expect of the new series given that it will only have been 2 years since Delta...

As for the Delta Movie? Just give me more Mirage, more breakdancing Valkyries, and more Giri Giri Ai and it'll get a passing score from me.

Destroy it with fire and break Kawamori's fingers till he gets his shit together. Delta killed Macross franchise for me. I don't know if I'll even check out new series if one comes out.
