It has been revealed that an epilogue chapter will be included in the new physical release of Inio Asano's Solanin manga, which will be the series' first chapter since it ended serialization in 2006. The upcoming release is slated for October 30, and will also include both of the compiled volumes, as well as colored illustrations and new drawings. The epilogue is expected to take place in 2017, and will feature various characters, including Meiko.

Asano began penning Solanin in 2005, where it started its serialization in Weekly Young Sunday magazine. The series ended in 2006, and released a total of two compiled volumes. A live-action movie based on the manga premiered in 2010, which was helmed by Takahiro Miki. Asano wrote a one-shot spin-off manga the same year, titled Haru yo Koi.

Viz Media licensed the series for North American release in 2008, where it was released in an omnibus format. In addition to an English release, the series also saw releases in other languages. Hanami released it in Polish between 2009 and 2010, while L&PM Pocket released it in Brazilian Portuguese throughout 2011.

I didn't even remember how the series ended lol. Just remember the important plot points.

But I'll probably read the epilogue

The only bad thing about this is that I may have to buy the revised edition of Solanin again in the future, I trust Asano to add something worthwhile to the story despite not really seeing the need to do so imho.

Honestly, I can't relate to some dumb cunt's trivial personal drama. And I didn't say that it's his worst work (precisely because I didn't read them all).

I also don't think that people who have Aku no Hana in their favourites have the right to reprimand others for liking edgy shit.

For that first point, that's fair. I didn't mean you said it was the worst, just that saying it's shit just because you didn't like it is a bit uncalled for. Like, you didn't even say why it was bad, just why you didn't care.

And for your edit, I just wanna clarify that I wasn't actually bashing you for liking "edgy" manga, especially since the favorites you have listed are also on my list. I just pointed out the fact that I had a feeling why you felt the way you did about Solanin because it isn't like his other works. Also, I think Aku no Hana is every bit as edgy as Oyasumi Punpun, albeit more juvenile in its presentation. Maybe even less, since it doesn't push the boundaries as far, but whatever, I don't really care what you think of me liking that manga.

I have a feeling it's because it's his least darkest work and doesn't share as many elements as all his other manga. How else is @postman_ supposed to get his dose of edginess?

I've been recently enjoying Reiraku and it's not edgy at all. But yes, I like my seinens with an extra bit of angst.

In all seriousness, though, I think that's quite the bold claim to make if he hasn't actually read all of Asano's manga. I personally think Nijigahara Holograph is his worst work for being too Inio Asano with all the dark themes.

Solanin is shit. Definitely not the best Asano's work.

I haven't even read this mange but I'm hyped. Love Inio Asano.

Not-so hot take: Solanin is Asano Inio's best work.

Sep 29, 2017 3:23 PM by V0ltg

Interesting and a little unexpected.
I wonder if it's more of an editor command or something he actually wanted to do and proposed himself.. (but most likely, since it might be is more popular work, they asked him to do some more to sell.. hmm..)

Asano's drawing habilities quite evolved (and for some aspect, improved) those last years, so at the very least, it should be amusing and interesting to see the same characters but with his actual style.

Maybe I could re-read it for the occasion.
