It has been revealed on the Tuesday's release of this year's 16th issue of Futabasha's Manga Action magazine that Nobuaki Kanazawa's horror novel series Ousama Game (King's Game) will receive a TV anime adaptation. Titled as Ousama Game The Animation, the series will premiere in October 2017 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and BS11. The official website and Twitter for the anime adaptation have been opened and announced the cast and staff members for the anime.

Synopsis
Nobuaki Kanazawa, who transferred to a high school far away, is afraid of getting intimate with his new classmates because of the events that happened from his previous school. This led him to shut his heart. However, he starts to open up during the sports festival's class relay. He and all his classmates received an email from "Ousama." At first, his classmates didn't take what they were told seriously, thinking it's just a joke, but Nobuaki, the only one who knows the real meaning of it, fights against the "death" game that will soon begin...

The rules of the Ousama Game are as follows:
1. All class members must participate.
2. The order sent by Ousama thru email must be followed within 24 hours.
3. A punishment will be given to those who don't follow the order.
4. Quitting the Ousama Game halfway is forbidden.

Ousama Game is a five-volume cellphone novel by Kanazawa under the pen name Pakkuncho. Futabasha has released three editions of the novel's compilation so far; a 12-volume tankobon and bunkoban format, and a new Junior Bunko label edition. The latest edition's sixth volume was released on March 15. Four manga adaptations were also inspired by the novel beginning with a five-volume series, followed by another five-volume sequel, a six-volume prequel, and a four-volume side story. The franchise has also received a film adaptation and a tie-in game adaptation in 2011.

Lol that's a lot of casts....

And yes, I also hope for anime original. I remembered reading this months ago and how underwhelming it is for 20 chapters series and how it ended.

What surprised me is that they got plenty of spinoffs and sequels and prequels lol. I guess it's quite popular enough in Japan, I wonder if those spinoffs and sequels made the first one more enjoyable, but I don't plan to read or look it up unless the anime pique my interest.

I hope the anime is going to be an anime original because the manga turned out to be bad.

I'll take anything horror related, horror needs a breakthrough.

So Danganronpa but with a larger cast?

I'll take a guess n say the novel is much better than the manga n manga was probably rushed n had quite a few changes. I enjoyed the manga tho so this is something I can look forward to, gotta admit tho, im surprised there adapting it.

I didn't even know this was from a novel; I only ever read the manga. In that case, I have no idea what's different between the two. I imagine not much. If this will indeed be adapting what I've read, then I'll probably pass. The large cast looks intimidating, but it doesn't mean much.

I hope they don't stick to the manga because it was so freaking bad. Haven't read the novel so I don't know how true the manga is to the novel.

But yeah the manga started off well then started to go downhill fast. The plot twist at the end was the icing on the cake -- just so freaking stupid.

WOW 47 people in the cast....

Gee, how often can you possibly rip off Battle Royale?

Battle Royale pretty much created a new sub genre. Having more stories in this sub genre automatically means that they're influenced by battle royale. With your mindset, every single novel in the world is a rip off of the first novel in that sub genre, so I don't think that's a very smart way to see this.

Well judging by the comments posted by the others it does not looks like a great series but neverthless i am excited about this because horror animes are quite few and rare compared to other genres in anime so i will definitely check it out and i hope that it will be atleast a 12 episode tv series.

That cast, it already looks like a clusterfuck. Probably the most interesting thing would be seeing Serval in a horror setting. XD

I've had the manga on my PTR list for a while now, so I might check this out.

But wow, that one large cast :O

Would've much rather seen the prequel Ousama game-Kigen adapted than this one, maybe as a ova series or movie. But I'll probably still watch this when it comes out anyway.

Please be good. Please be good. Please be good.

Well yeah, no.
I rarely saw novels with ratings so low on amazon tbh. Rating for the manga adaptation is catastrophic as well. I can't expect anything from that I'm afraid.
Cast has plenty of very talented seiyuu though, can't deny that point.
