Yeah under 10k cut-off for the Top 50 seems record low. I guess it's because last week was a holiday and everyone bought what they wanted to, then.

Though the more important reason is probably that there's just no manga currently receiving a boost from its anime. In previous years, there'd be a series or two (SNK, Haikyuu! etc) airing during the spring that could boost its manga causing the several backlog volumes to keep the cut-off high during otherwise slow weeks.

Overall physical copies is going down each year, and the reason for that is because of the digital sales is rising, I've speculated that is the caused why manga sales seems to be getting worse each year. We will eventually reach to a point where digital sales completely takes over, and oricon would be forced to push the publishers more to get sales number for the digital copies.

And if this is true, then I wish the publishers start releasing sales number, so oricon can add these, because I feel manga sales going down is a false alarm.

I think that might unfortunately not be possible. The publishers don't actually release sales numbers, so Oricon gets its data from the feedback from retailers and they can't do the same with digital sales.

Like you've said, digital is already at 42.9% and with the current trend, it will be 50/50 with physical volumes in 2017 and will exceed the print in 2018. So the numbers we see are getting less and less representative in a very rapid pace.

I found a lot of examples on japanese websites but they are all from 2008-2010. Back then ANN only made the top 30 public so I can't show you to the full rankings. Some series:

│**8444 (3)│------│------│------│------┃**8,444 (**3)┃2009/10|GOLDEN★AGE 15

│**8033 (4)│------│------│------│------┃**8,033 (***4)┃2009/*9|タッコク!!! 1
│**7494 (4)│------│------│------│------┃**7,494 (***4)┃2009/*9|超弩級少女4946 1

But I'm pretty sure it happened quite a few times in 2011+
I will try to find some tonight

Those data sources are from top 100 not top 50.

The lowest data of top 50 in history.

50 38 *10,074 *24,687 *2 ドカベン スーパースターズ編 23

Yeah, these numbers seem to be true. It's a new record.

Those numbers are for last volume of Golden Age, doesn't particularly mean it was on 50th place. Same with others - either first volume sales or last volume sales. You've misunderstood something.

I think you're right actually. There've been weeks around 12-13k every now and again over the past couple of years, but that was previously the lower end of the range. 11212 in early feb is the lowest previous figure I could find.

That's literally the first time volumes with less than 10k get into top-50. I hope it's just Japanese switching to digital versions and not losing interest.

Yay!! A little bit unexpected but amazing!

The upcoming weeks are going to be GREAT in BL/Yaoi titles. In few days we will have the second volume of Kashikomarishita Destiny (entitled: Kashikomarishita Answer) and volume 2 of Yarichin B* Club!
After them, Caste Heaven vol3 and Fukigen Kareshi series! \o/

@Yaoi-Senpai Do you remember weeks ago, when i told you about Kashikomarimashita Destiny (side: Master and side: Butler) BLCDs? So, in the same week, the Side:Butler's drama CD will be released. :3
