An official Twitter for bkub Ookawa's Poputepipikku (Pop Team Epic) has opened and announced that it will get TV anime adaptation. Animated by Kamikaze Douga and produced by King Records, it is slated for Fall 2017.

Poputepipikku began its serialization on web manga website Manga Life Win in August 2014. The first part ended in November 2015 and second part started in February 2016. The physical compiled volume was released on December 2015. It's an unprecedented gag 4-koma manga that centers around two girls called Popuko and Pipimi and uses lots of news topics in surreal way.

It was previously announced on April 1 that bkub Ookawa's fake work Hoshiiro Girldrop would get an anime adaptation as an April Fool's day joke with the PV, therefore the link for the official website and Twitter relates to "Hoshiiro Anime."

I can say I'm excited about this! The manga is pretty wild, to say at least. Though I won't be surprised if it's a 3-minutes short.

Kamikaze Douga (the animation studio) is producing this anime movie called Cocolors later this year. And the poster for this show looks suspiciously similar to Cocolors's original one.
I agree that the key visual looks alike (the background is the same), but Cocolors (or "Cocolor Special Collaboration Live") already premiered for two days limit on February (not "producing", but already "premiered"), according to that article you linked. And it was already premiered at Tokushima's Machi Asobi on October 2016.

The poster art is hilarious.

I'm really looking forward to this (trusting that despite being announced around April 1st, this is the real deal).

Can't wait! I wonder if they'll be able to nail the comedic timing and bring in some fitting seiyuu's!

Wait really? Too bad its meme stuff will come off as dated since the manga did them when they were actually new.
