Staff Members for 'Haikara-san ga Tooru' Movie Announced

The official website of Haikara-san ga Tooru has announced staff members for the upcoming movie. The first of the two-part movie, Benio, Hana no 17-sai, will be directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan), and premiere in Japan theaters on November 11. The second part, Tokyo Dai Roman, will be helmed by Mitsuko Kase (Ristorante Paradiso), and premiere in 2018. Rest of the staff members are as follows:

Color Design: Kunio Tsujita (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei)

Sound Director: Kazuhiro Wakabayashi (Momo e no Tegami)
Music: Michiru Oshima (Little Witch Academia (TV))
Studio: Nippon Animation

The movies will adapt the manga entirely, unlike the TV anime that was originally planned for a yearlong broadcast from 1978 to 1979, but ended prematurely at 42 episodes. The manga is a winner of the first Kodansha Manga Award in the shoujo category, alongside Yumiko Igarashi's Candy Candy.

It's not that they are dead. They just produced mainly childrens anime that nonone watches outside of Japan in recent years.
